I would not be shocked or surprised seeing Parker staying as pitching Coach. Or maybe Jake staying but not both.

With how they have handled this team down the stretch, and depending what happens from here on out, I think there's a possibility that we keep both. But Jake feels more likely to stay over Parker.

You are 1 of about 3 posters on here that through the years of reading I have picked up on realize you actually know things. So I feel pretty damn good right now.

The terms have been agreed on. Just like yesterday. We're just finalizing contract language at this point.

Ole Bert wrong AGAIN........It may very well be BOC but it wasn't announced yesterday so he's still way below the Mendoza line........

And not to be confused with Cowbell. Don't want to get this started on the wrong foot.

Because he didn't recruit or really develop any of that 23 staff and outside of Chase Burns, who wasn't as good at Wake as he was at Tennessee, who has recruited?
Because I am sure I am just missing something because everyone thinks this guy is the best pitching coach in the country. So what makes him better than a Justin Parker?
I think he is really the first pitching coach to embrace using a pitching lab for development and have a lot of success doing so and having a staff that runs the lab. I guess Wake Forest is kind of the model of how to do it. I'm not sure what the issues there are now. When you are at a program like Wake Forest and you get to Omaha by doing something way out of the box and it works it's going to get a lot of attention.

I hope it's a resource issue as to their issues with the portal. I don't really think the portal was our major issue at all. Sure, it would have been awesome to get Skenes and Montgomery but it's to overlook guys like Ledbetter, Ace Reese, Noah Sullivan, Khal Stephen. We really haven't had too many portal busts is we look at all of the guys we got out of the portal. At least O'Connor is a good enough recruiter that he has been able to offset any portal issues. And we need to not forget that recruiting and player development is still very important even in the portal era.
To me the biggest issue we had was just playing clean fundamental baseball and if there is one thing that O'Connor's teams do well it's that. So I fully expect that to improve. And that has me the most excited about him.

You have overzealous boosters who want to get close to your team.
I mean this is not a normal job. He has never been at a place like this. There's only 3-4 places like this in the country. Is he ready for that? Can he juggle all that and still have the same attention to detail he had at UVA?
I think he is. If this hire is finalized as expected it kind of reminds me of when Texas hired Augie Garrido who was actually older than O'Connor is now in that Garrido was at a smaller place and did well and had won NC's but then he took over the monster that is Texas and did well. Virginia has been in the spotlight many times over the years and O'Connor has handled it well. He's also grounded enough and old enough I don't think he is going to let the attention go to his head like Cann and I don't think he is going to overthink everything like Lemonis. It seems like his focus is on winning baseball number one.
