Most years SECT means nothing, this year I think could be different.
Here is why.
Win something - we haven't done it since 21.
Win and we host - again not done since 21
We could get some good matchups if cards play right.
Why it matters - momentum going into next year with new coach. We get the attention of every recruit and current players we want to keep.
Negative - yeah I know the keeping Parker noise will be loud.
I'm not sure I believe any of this but just thinking bout the possibilities. Fellow Dawgs, have fun with this one.

Eh I?d rather have fresh arms for the regional than try to run through the tournament
-
We need to start Sullivan Tuesday on the mound and see what happens from there.
We are in the tournament easily and may even be a 2 seed. At this point I value rest for our weekend rotation. Rest your pitchers and only use main guys if you get to Wednesday, maybe even Thursday.
-
We're not hosting even if we win the sec tournament. We blew that by screwing up leads against Texas and lsu and deciding to have pitcher tryouts vs Troy.
-
Lets win a couple of games and then get home to rest some arms. Pico de Gallo and Scary need it for sure
Walk like the King or walk like you don't care who the King is

Agree, MSU might go from 3 seed to 2 seed, not enough payback to fatigue the arms before regionals.
It would be cool to put the SECT on the arms of McP, Foster, Duke Stone, Burns, Mannell, and O'Leary. Considering that Pico, Siary, and Ligon are potentially all going pro in June, these guys are the starting-point for the SEC staff next year.

I don't disagree with the premise, but I would be shocked if we didn't throw Pico on Friday if we won the first 2. I am interested to see how Parker plays it.

New season so it's the regular rotation/ win 2 then get out of there.

This. I couldn’t give a tinker’s damn about the sec tourney.

If we make it to the weekend I think you have to pitch the weekend guys win it or not. We won't have enough pitchers to do otherwise.

In general I agree but my OP is only because I don't think we have the pitching to make an Omaha run this year and be nice to show something for next coaching staff and recruits to get excited about. If Pico hadn't gone down and bull pen as well, I might feel some better bout an Omaha potential.
We win SECT, I don't see how you keep us from hosting. Amount of SEC wins, quality wins and just we would be red hot. Now that is something to build a little excitement going into next staff.
-
It would be a sick joke to fire your coach and then host. I could only imagine lol
-
Here is the way I see it.
1)State has locked up a tourney invite. Whether a 2 or a 3 your first game is against the other. If you win that one, you probably get to play the host anyway. You have to beat a very good team in a Regional no matter what.
2) Texas A&M has more to play for. They HAVE to win Hoover to make the tourney. They will go all out including pitching their Friday or at worst their Saturday guy against us. Just don't get run-ruled by a severely wounded 14 seed who when the season started was expected to be the 1 seed! Stay on schedule, pitching Sullivan Tursday. Use the good BP guys if you have a chance to win. Otherwise. Treat it like a non-con BP game.

We have no shot to host

The closest we get to Starkville is in Hattiesburg. This is what Ron and Neal were discussing the entire weekend.

USM ain't hosting either

IF.... USM wins their conf. tourney, and somebody currently penciled in stumbles, they most definitely have an excellent chance to host. They can certainly steal Coastal's host spot if Coastal gets put out of their tourney early. There will not be 8 SEC hosts. The ACC, Big 12 and Big 10 certainly don't have enough quality teams to host, so Sunbelt could even get 2 hosts.
-
Being a 2 seed increases your chance of hosting a super.
Beat Aggie and Auburn and we should be a 2 seed.

We are projected as a low 2 seed right now. Win 2 in Hover and we may move up the line some, but there are a lot of moving parts. The higher we go up the 2 line the more favorable 1 seed we can draw. We really just need to rest our arms now anyway, conference tournaments only really matter if you?re trying to get in.

That's a lot of ifs- Can't see the Sunbelt getting two and Coastal isn't losing theirs. That conference is bad this year. It would take a 17 up like last year to get them one and the committee got destroyed last year over their BS.
