If you look at this year's team:

    The LF'er is a 3rd baseman
The CF'er throws like a girl and struggles vs SEC pitching
Both RF'ers are 1st Basemen recruited because we thought our 1st baseman was going to be gone
Our 3rd baseman played LF last year
Our SS couldnt play 2nd base. Our now back-up SS was supposed to be the SS who was really good defensively.
Our 2nd baseman was signed to be a back-up for depth
Our 1st baseman had a terrible Jr year and is pissed he had to return for his Sr year.
Our veteran catcher is just happy to be out there. Our other catcher is an idiot who really shouldnt be playing catcher.

Our Friday guy is really a Saturday guy but is overachieving
Our Saturday guy has been nothing but long relief his career
Our Sunday guy has the best stuff on the staff and will be damn good 3 years from now

Our top 2 RP's havent pitched in college since 2022 until this season.

You have guys like Dan Heefner who is an elite coach but has strict religious standards that he doesn't bend for. You have guys that stay for years at places they have no chance to win a title at because they're happy there.

If we had handled Lemonis the wrong way we could easily set ourselves back 5-10 years. And we don't have a coaching candidate like a Cohen out there like we did in 2009 where we could tell Polk 17 no we don't want Raffo to bail us out.

The way we handled it gives us the best chance to get back to what we expect to be.
Thank you for apparently being the only person that understands why Dan Heefner is not leaving DBU and why we could never hire him nor does any elite school that wants him ever hire him.

I don't think they're going to be doing the hiring other than taking credit for it.

Correct. Just like Loafers never hired Howland nor Mullen at Fla. He did what he was told to do

Exactly, going to the bottom of the 9th last night with the 2 run lead having wasted so many opportunities to expand the lead, did anyone have any real confidence we would hold on? I sure didnt.

I really havent. I've never thought he was a good coach. But he has a title and that's hard to do. I'm 0-6 as a player/coach in state championship games. My stance has always been does he "deserve" the job? And I believed yes and still believe he deserved this season. But this season has turned into a turd and barring a major turnaround in this last month- I dont believe he deserves to keep this job anymore. 3 bad seasons in the last 4 and it's time for a change. This team should not be 6-12 in the SEC even with its flaws. This staff has underachieved to this point

Other than Polk burning the program down because we didn't hire Raffo and it took Cohen two years to right the ship, we have never been consistently bad in my lifetime except under Lemonis.

More programs care about baseball now as well. Only like 7 programs in the SEC cared consistently until about 2019.

We still care more. I would say MSU and Arkansas care the most. LSU is like the minor league team in Baton Rouge.

I've seen all of the teams in the league go through peaks and valleys.

    at Polk's end:

Corbin was just getting going good at Candy
Sully had just arrived at Fla- they havent missed a Regional since he got there
Cohen/Henderson/Clown has made Kentucky a solid program
Bianco had made Mississippi a good program
SC was about to go on a tremendous run
VH had just started elevating UPig

Now Tenn is a power program
Georgia has always had the potential to be a top program but remains inconsistent
    Auburn is now solid

Different SEC now- then add in NIL and portal

Gotcha. I still think we are talented enough to be 9-9 right now in the SEC and if we were- we'd be in such a better place right now heading down the stretch.

    A) We took too long settling on a consistent line-up. I still cant understand why Stevens doesnt hit most days yet we play Trout every damn day. We had the Fall to work alot of this shit out- yet its been like we just got these guys together Feb 1st and had to figure it out.

    B) Indiana St has been a letdown. Loftin cant get well. Black has been hurt or whatever and thrown 1 damn inning for us. Foster has been hurting. Grant got himself tossed off the team. The pitching staff hasnt come together the way we had hoped and that 6.06 SEC ERA is glaring

I don't take kindly to people that hurt Mississippi State and then make jokes about it when their ideas don't work out.

I mean do any other SEC schools have media members that represent them as poorly as we do? Every school has their Robertson that is just a straight homer. However, other school’s version of that showers regularly and does not strive to be the lead guitarist of Korn. Then there is pizza boy and the high school sports reporter who thinks he is holier than thou because his dad is a preacher. I mean listen to that podcast and then listen to ANY OTHER SEC podcast that is geared towards a fan base. Whether that be MPW with McCready, TexAgs with Liucci, Bengal Tiger with Shea Dixon, Ikard with OU, etc. They talk somewhat positively, but are realistic. Faulk bashes anyone and everyone because he was a loser in HS and now has a niche podcast that gets him noticed at Two Brothers. He also takes everything personally. He did not like Leach because his press conferences were not on time. He does not like Lemonis because he was mean to him. He takes everything personally instead of acting like a damn journalist. Then again, he is not one so why would he act like one.

Would any of those other fan podcasts be openly admitting to watching Wrestlemania instead of watching the game they were attending for free, of which they also get fed? It is just utterly ridiculous. I actually like Brian a little bit because he realizes he is lucky to have the job he has and he tries to be diplomatic about things. I guess I just wish we had serious media members, but maybe that is asking too much.

I will say that I don't envy anyone who has had to routinely talk or write about MSU athletics in the last 3 years on a professional level.
