I saw this one coming. Myah Taylor is on there coaching staff in some capacity and we all know she left State to go to Ole Miss. Im sure she helped to recruit her there to play for Coach Yo.. Im disappointed but not surprised.
Purcell needs to step it up on the recruiting trail. We have a really good high school recruiting class coming in and keeping Prater and McPhaul helped some too. But we lost a ton of scoring, neither girl we just picked up in the portal are big time scorers. Losing Jordan, Powe, Russell and Okot hurt, that's our top 4 scorers.

Coarch Yo doing work in the portal; Rebs all in on spending $$$ in the portal for all sports.

Not just confined to basketball; we're getting skull drug across the entire sports spectrum by the Rubbles.

Our leadership needs to be on the hot seat.

Mississippi State University doesn't give a shit about competitive college athletics. Our "leadership" thought baseball was a flagship sport for too long. Now them chickens have come to roost!

Just looked at a few videos of Miss. State's redshirt center.....
The 6-7 redshirt center Rocio Jimenez from the Dominican Republic appears to have a lot of potential...including runs the court well and athletic. She looked good for a player a few years into the sport, a late starter to the game of basketball. Also, I read where she played on the Dominican Republic's FIBA AmericaCup team where she was the team's youngest member. Not saying that she's ready yet or that Coach Purcell and his staff aren't actively looking to bring in a more experienced center while they continue to bring Jimenez along but that she's definitely one to keep an eye on moving forward in the program.

Next year will be her 3rd year on campus and she hasn't seen the floor yet due to injuries. She definitely has the size but it's hard to rely on an unknown player who is injury prone. Sam definitely has to go out and get some size.

WBB looking bleak for next year.

As currently constructed yes it is, but he still has about 5 or 6 players to grab out of the portal and we are recruiting some good ones so let's see what he does first. We also have a top 10 high school class coming in, all 3 girls are ranked in the ESPN top 100 so we will definitely have talent on the roster but I hope to not have to heavily rely on the Freshman, he has to go get a couple scorers and a big or two out of the portal.

Lampley is very highly rated as well. One or two of these could start if need be. At least one of them starts and the other gets good playing time..eventual starter at some point as well..season one or two. A third freshman out of Houston Texas is not as highly rated as these two but she's tall, long..very athletic and one of the top recruits coming out of Houston this class.
High School scoring average of 33 per game = 6 points per game at State! Welcome to the bottom half of SEC!

She's been hurt a lot and I expect nothing from here. She can't move anymore.

Sad to hear about these continued injury related issues with Jimenez. The best to this young lady as she moves forward.

Appears the top teams in the nation have been going in the transfer portal heavily after points, and also appears that Coach Purcell and his staff haven't been getting the needed points out of the transfer portal to consistently keep up with the top teams (SEC or otherwise) in scoring., especially not putting overly strong defensive teams on the court. Team this past season had issues scoring,, especially against the tougher teams and were depending heavily on Jerkaila Jordan, sometimes Okot to stay in games. The Kentucky transfer had been a 6th man for them before transferring to Miss. State, not a noted scorer during her college career. What happened with the high scoring transfer Terren Ward? Also the Louisville transfer guard before the Kentucky transfer had been a bench player for them..not noted as a scorer and was put in a scoring role at Miss. State. Can learn from the past, make the necessary adjustments.
Also, Destiney Mcphaul..the combo guard was a big boost to the backcourt. She's a good scorer with playmaking skills as well. She also helped the team stay in games.

A couple of scores and a big or two sounds about right. Also, include at least one point guard in this group...minimum of one (Mcphaul can help out at point or whatever role in the backcourt asked of her..backup or starter). No doubt the coaching staff is looking at players from other sources outside of the transfer portal as well....Dominican Republic, Canada, Kenya., high school, juco...ect. Also, all 3 freshmen look good in videos, stats, rankings, ect...not one one of them can be counted out regarding earning minutes or starting spot.
Update...MEAC Rookie Of The Year, Howard University freshman point guard Saniyah King just committed to Miss. State.

True but if you get a chance take a look at her film and what she is currently doing, she will help right away. She is 6'2" athletic and can score.. She can start right away, Im surprised she is a 4 star instead of a 5 star recruit. From a comparison standpoint she plays similar to Rickea Jackson

Yea Sam has to get a big out of the portal for sure, we can't rely on Jimenez because she hasn't been healthy. Who knows she may be a bright spot for us but we need 2 more bigs and a scorer or two to go with this team. I typically don't like relying on Freshman in today's game but I do like our 3 incoming Freshman
