People keep saying this, and I'm sure it's fact based, but man I work in an environment with about 200 men from the south. Interest is at an all time low. I find myself on some Saturdays turning on the SEC game of the week about halfway through the game in the common TV area.

Not a soul in my family other than me watches any games. My 25 year old son hasn't watched a game in 2 years and he was a diehard.
None of my grandchildren care at all.

Why is it not Super Bulldog Weekend?

Because they did not want to wait until May to do Spring Practice and we did not want SBW on Easter Weekend. We wanted Spring practice to end as close to the portal window as we could while acting like we cared about a spring game.

I watched maybe 3 non MSU games last year and I used to be glued to the TV if I wasn't in Starkville. Now I watch the State game while doing other stuff or looking at my phone.

A lot of my friends are about the same.

I hate to say this but I'm afraid it's a Miss. State thing. Attendance for everyone in the SEC this past season (compared to the year before) was either up or basically the same expect for one school. I'll let you guess who.

If you go to this site you can search "SEC" and see.

    Also, TV ratings are up.

"In 2024, ABC averaged 5.8 million viewers for 46 regular-season games, a 56% increase year-over-year and its best college football season in 15 years. ESPN platforms averaged 1.9 million viewers per game, a 19% increase from the previous year. ABC's Saturday Night Football averaged 7.4 million viewers, the best for any network since 2008."

I agree, my interest in watching last year was down as well. It was a reminder of how far we have fallen. But overall, there's still a big appetite to watch (good) college football so we better figure this problem out fast.

It is definitely a Miss State thing. I live in PA and this is not a common complaint with Penn State, Ohio State or WVU fans. Sometimes I hear it from Pitt fans but they have a very small fan base and most of them are more into the Steelers. This is our fanbase being upset that Ole Miss has surpassed us and being bad so it's a good excuse to use. We have never had the same passion for sports though that other SEC fan bases have as whole (outside Vandy). I am not saying we do not have dedicated die hard fans, but the number is much smaller than even WVU and some of the big 12 and ACC teams.

This state has a large majority of sidewalk fans of whoever is good. A lot of these people that are now OM fans were coming to games in Starkville from 2010-2019 with their maroon gameday polos and cowbells. Same reason there's a large LSU following in the Southeastern part of the state and a Bama following in the western part of the state. Those fan bases you mention have die hard fans. This state is made up of 30% State fans, 30% OM fans, 59.5% fans of whoever is good, and .5% USM fans.

It's not State thing. Basketball was up this year. It's a "we've destroyed our football program" thing and keep requiring more money for a shit show. Fans are pushing back, so Selmon and Keenum better get shit moving.

I still watch, but have about as much investment in it as watching reality TV. It?s just entertainment at this point. It?s on the TV, but quick to get up and do something else.. use to be where I was completely invested from the time game day started until the final whistle on PAC 12 after dark? maybe I?m just older with more important shit to do.. but the sport has definitely changed.

I watched interesting matchups last season from across the nation. Only bits and pieces of our games and didn't watch one play of the Egg. Unlikely it will be any different this year.

Same. It’s become background noise. I might go to a game if we can get some good seats but it’ll be just one IF I have time and IF the kids and wife want to go. Otherwise, its been two years since I sat down and watched a full State game beginning to end. Now I couldn’t name more than maybe 3 players on the team. It’s sad.

How do you define Super Bulldog Weekend? To me, it's a weekend with a home baseball series, the spring football scrimmage and the most years the Cotton District Arts Festival. That's this weekend. They just chose to call some other weekend "Super Bulldog" this year so people wouldn't get upset about it being on Easter. It's dumb. This is SBW. The UK series in May is just a home baseball weekend.

It's probably closer to .00000000005% or how ever many 10 people would be.
