My boy is batting cleanup today
He's 3 for 4 and two RBI
I don't always look like a baseball genius, just when I am taking about Jake Mangum belonging in MLB.

Is 1.485 OPS good? Asking for a friend

Give that man a cape with a capital S!!!!!!!

ZIPs likes em. They have em at 2.1 fWAR. None of the other projections think he's above a replacement level player. It'll be interesting how he does in the next couple weeks. MLB pitchers will adjust

Some folks have a hard time admitting they're wrong about a player.

I figure he plays for the next 5-7 years in the majors and make many many millions. are his jerseys selling like wild?

I mean he has a higher xwoba than ohtani. Do you think this is his true level of play? He hasn't hit this well at any level

Just a guess, but I doubt he hits above 0.400 for the year.

Jake needs 250-300 ABs at this level to see what he can be. That means he needs a team to give him that amount of ABs. Teams will now have tape on him and so he's going to have to figure out how to adjust at this level. He's going to need a team that says, "I don't care if you go for 20-20 in the next 5 games or 0-20 you are going to be in the outfield for us." Look at Rooker, he couldn't catch on with anyone until the A's got him and basically said exactly that. Now he's reaping the rewards of that. That's what Jake needs. A team that doesn't care if they win, they are rebuilding and developing.

I agree with this. What his torrid stretch has done is it will give a team enough to dream on him even if it's not TB.

He's a winning player. What I mean is he is willing to be the fourth OF, can play any of those three positions, can hit, he can bunt if a team needs it, he can pinch hit and pinch run and he can be a great team leader. He's unselfish. Heck he could probably pitch an inning in a blowout situation too.

Oh no, there's little chance he continues at this level of performance. But think he's been very close to .300 in his minor league career? Or do I remember that wrong?

I think that's right. There's usually a pretty big dip when going from AAA to MLB.

Yeah that makes sense. In this early stretch though he is handling the bat amazingly well. And what he's doing is very repeatable unless teams find 'a hole' in his swing so to speak.

He's doing great. Todd's idea of his future is the best case for him long term though imo. Being a roster holder in mlb isn't a knock... it's insanely impressive. Hopefully he can still play cf some bc that will make him much more valuable.

He played CF last game against Pittsburgh. He has played RF and CF now. Obviously he could play LF.

Then that obviously helps his mlb status.
