I too have traveled much of the planet and my experience has been the same as yours. People in large part do not place winning over all else.

They used to not. Times they are a changing.
And you can't deny this when you highest authority in our country is filled by someone with worse allegations AND convictions than Chris Beard.
And that's not to turn this political. That's just saying OM is a reflection of society. We don't care what people did or didn't do if we think they can "win".

I understand what you’re saying but what do you think should be placed above winning in an athletic program?

I’ve been saying for 2 years now that State will be relegated when realignment happens. It doesn’t matter that we are a founding member of the SEC we will be out. Our NIL is dead last, our hiring practices are laughable, our marketing still sucks (but there’s not much to market in their defense). It’s unfortunate, but we have some boneheaded boosters and an out of touch out of date AD staff that put us so far behind that it’s pretty much out of reach now. We replaced that staff with a trainee. Our boosters pretty much just like hanging out, drinking, and giving each other high fives. It’s funny and really backwards. It’s all over but the crying.

We will be aligned to a conference where we can function under our NIL requirements and be competitive in major and ancillary sports. I'm starting to accept it. Just wait until we have a full decade of losing our ass in all major sports. This realignment will be welcome by some and eventually accepted by most. There are probably admin and booster people laughing and shaking there heads to what I'm saying, but if they are here much longer they won't be laughing long.
Edit- I could see a possible situation where we can stay in line with the super conference in a particular sport of two. I could see that. If the TV powers that be make those provisions with the NCAA. Besides the SEC won't be called SEC when all this happens.

Exactly, there won’t be an SEC per se there will be a total realignment. We ve been cheapskates way too long and we are about to reap what we have sown.

Little confused... is the story BS? Did the now wife make up something? Is it BS bc even though it happened, they're now married?

she had a drinking issue and he went to get her back to her apartment. she was yelling and had way too much to drink when this guy walks by and calls the cops as he thought the couple didn't know each other. Her parents came to the police station in Luke's defense but the DA or whomever was set on prosecution and ending his baseball career before it got started. Once his attorney arrived and met with the MSU admin and legal folks it ended pretty quickly once another athletes name was mentioned.

Ok I too have traveled the world but that means nothing. Traveling the world doesn't make any of us know more.
I know what the Good Book says (God's Word) and it says that we are all selfish and full of pride. I see it every where I go. People make selfish decisions all the time to better theirselves. Too many are fooling theirself if you think otherwise.
Yes some people make decisions not based on cheating, etc. to win but even God fearing people do it too.
Things have gotten way worse in our culture too - just as Bible said it would.
People doing right things are the minority - also in the Bible - narrow way and broad way.
I understand these are absolute truth's that many on here will not believe but true non the less.
Not a flame at anyone just stating the truth.

Anything is possible and this could happen as realignment continues but we must remember someone has to be the Washington Generals (Harlem Globtrotters opponent that lost every game). As Mullen said 50% of teams lost today and someone got to lose. It just feels like SEC has decided one of those teams is us.

Beard, Will Wade, Bruce Pearl, Hugh Freeze, etc. see a pattern here? Yeah its worse.

That's your truth R2. Just not one that everyone shares. That's OK. We all experience things differently. Honestly I don't see that as a bad thing. I've always said to my folks, if all of us are nodding up and down together all of the time, only one of us is doing the thinking.
And let's remember, God separated us with unique languages to make us different for a good reason.

Like others have said, I am concerned in the next 5-10 years we will be one of the next Oregon State/Washington State type teams. Realignment is constantly changing, but I just don't see us being in the same league as Ohio State, UGA, Bama, etc. Football is what drives this, so being good in basketball outside of being a blue blood is not as recognized. No one cares at all regarding baseball when it comes to this, hence Oregon State would have got an invite to the Big 12. I have accepted there is nothing that can be done about it, but it will be extremely disappointing if and when it happens. Ole Miss being better than us at both football and basketball though is a major disadvantage. They have two great coaches, while we have a good coach in Jans and a big question mark in Lebby. The next few years will tell us if we have the ability to compete in this new world or not. Unfortunately, it is not looking good at this point in time.

That ain't my truth that is what God's Word says. I'm just repeating it. I've found it true in my experience too and yes that is what I believe.
Yes others can have their own views and that is perfectly fine.
In the end, we'll all stand before God and give an account. I'm not that big a gambler to go against what God says but again that is just me. To each his own.

Wow. You really took that off the rails. Didn't see that leap coming where we're talking about people's nature and end up with disavowing God's Word. Wow. I'm just going to let that go for civility's sake.

Not only is OM better than us in football and basketball, they've been relevant more recently in baseball than we have. I don't believe it's ever been this way in my lifetime. Normally, you just deal with it and think it's cyclical and will pass, however we've been pulled into the NIL orbit as a permanent crumb. Outside of baseball, we would have to get extremely, extremely lucky in the portal, with coaches, hungry players, despite being out-recruited to have one great season in football or basketball now. Just one season!
