This!
Agree. We need an eraser down low.
Problem is I?m sure they are in high demand.
But you are right.

All of these are good but people in hell want ice water too.

True but it is importantly to define the direction you need to go.

Zakai Zeigler (5'9") made the defensive all SEC team 4 times and was the defensive player of the year twice. Josh has a couple of inches on him so it's not his size that's preventing him from being effective on the defensive end. I don't think he's lazy but yeah he needs to get better.

He?d make a fortune and our fans would be happier.
We could get a solid defender.
Who needs a great scorer when we can get a taller guy who scores 6 a game but defends well.
The scary thing is how many of our fans would agree with you. That is an indictment on our fanbase tbh.

His size hurts him defensively and also on his drives to the rim. And he does not give the same effort on defense. He displays an explosive quickness on his drives to the basket. He does not on defense.

His back is probably hurting from carrying our offense.

After watching the games today we need to prioritize two things:
1. A PG
2. A true C
Never thought I would say the second one but you just cannot win in college basketball without a true big.

Luckily, we have one in route but he will be a Freshman and will need time to adjust.

May as well just go all the way with editing your first post into including a depth chart of sorts. Imo you need the following:
Talented Scorer - Retain Hubbard
True Point Guard -
Backup Point Guard - Warren?
3&D Wing #1 -
3&D Wing #2 - Retain Kugel (yes he runs more point but he's not good enough at it. He can be a 3&D guy tho)
3&D Wing #3 -
3&D Wing #4 - Put Shawn Jones in the Brook Lopez 3 point camp and hope he hits half his open corner or wing 3s.
Post Scorer who is a bucket - Retain Murphy and/or Nwoko and hope they take another leap
7 footer who doesn't have a major "weakness" -
Backup defensive specialist big -
I see minimum 5 holes to be filled. IMO order of priority is this:
Keep Hubbard
Get 3&D Wing #1
Retain Murphy
Get true point
Retain Nwoko
Get 7 footer
Retain Kugel
Get 3&D #3
Get defensive big
Teach Shawn Jones how to shoot
Keep Warren
That's the checklist to becoming an elite team. It's a tall order and looks much simpler said than done.

Jans has been horrible in the portal. Absolutely awful! I wouldn't bring back anyone other than the two bigs an Hubbard at most. We don't need to run it back again.

Finishing games out would have made us elite this year. We didn?t finish games out. We lost our mojo. That?s it.

Things you need to finish games out:
Hit FTs
Hit Open 3s
Have multiple "bucket" guys on O that can stop a scoring run.
The roster I'm envisioning answers all 3 of those things. Really we just need to make open corner 3s. So much goes different for us this year if we're 10% more accurate on open 3s.

Why is everyone so sure Hubbard returns? Anybody can match what we offer, and he probably wants to win, which we can't. I have a feeling he may give us the ole Van Buren treatment in a few weeks, but we'll see.

I'm not but him staying last year and him showing improvement under Jans this year into a complete star even after struggling with a sophomore slump makes me have more hope. Hes priority n?mero uno and we should build a team to his strengths. If he leaves then we might as well get a full makeover as a team imo.

He will be here next year.

Better hope our two NIL guys are ready to spend up to $6MM and the rest of our NIL can make up the other $2MM.
Because you?re asking to build the dang dream team.

We have him a multi year deal and it?s very good. Actually hard to believe for a 5?10 volume shooter. But our NIL guys who made this deal also put in a buyout in it as well.
And we are winning-we just aren?t finishing out our wins. Kanye Cleary changes the whole make up of this team.

Kanye Clary entered the portal today.. which isn't a surprise

You think we can't match NIL? Or does he just want to leave? Or you think he's going overseas?
