Without Hubbard we get by double digits, his defense didn’t cost us the game. Hope we don’t lose him next year.
This more than anything. The 2nd chance points and scoring opportunities we gave away by turnovers is what did us in.

Hence the need for a true point. Hub is a 2. Cam can play 1 to throw teams out of order for a few min. We needed a real 1.

Yea, it's always something. Most of the year it's been the 3 pointers given up so today we let the boat leak somewhere else. Just aren't a very good team right now. Hard to find any aspect of the game on either end of the floor that we are especially good.at.

Well and we had one in Clary and then lost him. We have to stop bringing in risky guys. I know that's how Jans made his name with a guy like Teddy Allen but Clary is the 3rd player in two years that has quit on the team before SEC play began. Like we need to start knowing what we are getting. We knew what we were getting out of Harris, Melendez, and Kugel and they performed exactly the way that we thought they would. Not getting anything out of Clary was the killer. It cost us 2-3 games and that was the difference in being an 8 seed and a 6 seed.

To lighten things up a bit, my die hard MEM buddy was talking so much s*** after us losing then turned around and lost to CO ST. I think he's still mad about betting a car payment to me on the MSU/MEM game.

I don't think it hurts to bring those guys in as long as you don't count on them. Maybe they should be signed after nothing is left? IDK.
Melendez looked like Shane Battier before the ankle. He was more than we thought then came back to earth. Kugel needs a sports psychologist or preacher or exorcist or something. He's too athletic to not produce.

The thing with Kugel is that you could tell me he scored 18 with 4 threes and 2 steals and I wouldn't be shocked and you could tell me he scored 2 while going 0/7 from 3 and had 5 TOs and I wouldn't be shocked. He's like Paul George. Tell me he scores 30 and it wouldn't shock me and tell me he scores 13 and it wouldn't shock me.

But you did see them score about 20 points directly on Hubbard tho right? He is our best offensive threat but he is not very good defensively due to size. He doesn’t lack effort. He plays hard just short

Lot of his problem on defense he gets beat off the dribble. Also we don’t do a good job of getting help on the inside stopping penetration. Also Hubbard makes up with scoring to even him giving up points. We need a inside guy who can defend and rebound
I loved we didn’t quit and played hard. Now losing is no fun.

Sometimes he doesn't close out well too.
We don't necessarily need a PG but we have to get a combo guard that can really defend. A Timmy Bowers type would be perfect but they don't grow on trees. Need a long 4 that can help Murphy protect the basket.

Cam was a really good player for us, but he fell off hard this season in sec play. No idea what happened... probably an injury we don't know about. He's one of my favorites, but I'm not sad his time here has ended. I think we can upgrade him.

Cam really only works though on a team with several other really good offensive options because he is so limited on that end of the floor and we didn't have that. AGAIN, way too much was put on Hubbard's shoulders to provide us with offense and defenses were able to focus on him. Murphy was really the only other consistent offensive factor we had and he didn't even start. Seemed like we had more options pre-SEC but they all regressed significantly through the SEC schedule.

Cam Matthews will always be one of my favorite Dawgs. He was loyal to the Maroon and White, gave everything he had, did it the right way and did it with a bright smile. Thank you Cam! Forever a Dawg!!!!
