Just trying to inject a little bit of balance instead of just consistent negativity win or loss.
As you've said, we were also just one measly base hit away. It's obvious many or our players struggle to just hit for contact. That is why there's reason to be pissed.
It's the same crap as last year. Whether it's March or the end of April. Can't even advance loaded bases. Some atrocious critical at bats yesterday. From veterans.

Now we agree there. Hines has to better. It's disconcerting to say the least that he's the same hitter now as he was in February of his freshman year. And that's not on Jake. At a certain point, the kid has to want to learn to alter his approach. Hines doesn't apparently. So it's time to sit him.

It sucks losing, but let's figure out these issues in February and get them corrected instead of having them pop up in April because we were playing Northsoutheastwestern Technical School of The Mines in February.
The thing is we played Manhattan and Missouri State while good was still a team we beat easily. Get guys like Schnoor work against teams like that and use the big guns against USM and Troy who are both top 25 teams. Beating USM on the road and Troy would have helped our resume.

He didn't have to pitch Dotson twice against Missouri State. And he had ample opportunities to get pitchers an inning or so against Manhattan.
The guys with talent have been performing for the most part this season.

The kid is the same player he has been since he stepped on campus at the plate. Better defender as a Sr but is right now a big hole in the batting order.

I disagree- I think he is worse. He basically hit .300 his 1st 2 years as a DH with 20 HR's per. Now? He is me at the SEC level in 1990

Can?t argue that point, will add though that now there is enough book on him that he is definitely pitched to with purpose. He is still trying to pull absolutely everything.

Eight games in we should not be worried about any of this. We simply did not deliver at the plate with numerous RISP. It's a single game and it's early. Too early to tinker with players sitting or not. Troy delivered just enough and we did not. Frustrating of course but we're the ones that left the W on the field.

The difference is this year we can and will bench him if he keeps it up. Lemonis basically alluded to this in his interview last night.

I think Lemonis's concern is guys doing the same things at the plate they did last year- ahem Hunter Hines.

Do you hear yourself? "Eight games in"?????? We have 15 guys from other teams last year we are counting on to play big roles. 8 games is in no way enough time to know shit. Its going to take at least 20

Yeah, I don?t know what the deal is. Thought he was better as well.
I have been told he practices a lot on his own. Felt bad for him last year, but he has to find it now.

If a new coach with no loyalties, recruiting promises, history, or ties came in to direct the hitting because the LA Dodgers steal Gotro and Lemonis from MSU.
(1) 2B- Frei - Switch (Buckner is a good player too)
(2) LF -Downs - Right (Up in the order until he stops hitting)
(3) RF-Stevens - Left
(4) 1B-Sullivan - Right
(5) DH- Stallman - Left / Hines - Left (Hines is probably good PH versus Right Hand Power Arms)
(6) CF- Chance - Right
(7) 3B - Reece - Left (Instructed to put the barrel for gappers and not try be a 20 HR guy, he is K'ing +50% his rate for Houston, move up when he gets hot)
(8) SS- Cupp - Right (A new coach would think Cupp is a hitter these days)
(9) C- Highfill - Right / Powell - Right / Owen - Right (Until Highfill becomes Johnny Bench)
The top-end portal catchers like Jimmy Keenan and Luke Gaffney and Luis Hernandez are also not hitting. So, no obvious solution was available to snag, even with maxed out NIL dollars.
