Edge and DL recruiting are just dead. I think we see good news in a couple spots this week. We got to sign some dogs on defense other than just LBs.

He was good and coming into his own before his injury. He could go. Hate that for him.

Fits the mold for us though, that defense has so many injury riddled spots it's crazy. I'm not into taking any chances on those.

The DL market is thin right now too with actual players. Even depth pieces you have scratch around to find.

I don't disagree. I liked the Burroughs try out, no risk, good upside. DL is crap right now otherwise.

Depth if nothing more. I'm beginning to think our coaches think that is BY FAR our worst position because they've signed a pass rushing EDGE specialist and they've brought in multiple EDGE guys. I still think we need to start seeing some movement on the DL front.

What are y'all considering as an EDGE? Red Hibbler isn't going to be a JACK linebacker, but he's going to play DE. He's an instant starter and potential NFL guy. Sanders is going to be a solid pass rush specialist and core special teamer. We have a lot of visits with guys who will likely be the JACK linebacker. There are some that want to commit that they are holding off on.

Yea I would consider Murray a JACK and Sanders and Hibbler EDGE guys. Jalonnie Williams and Boone both would fall into the EDGE role as well.

Are there any running backs that we are looking at or do we think we are good with what we have?

#1 edge player in the portal per ON3 doesn't appear to be getting much action that I can see. With the situation we are on the line we should be talking to everybody.

Yeah. I think Chris Murry would be a JACK. I think Malick Sylla will be a JACK. Malik Charles could be both a JACK and a DE. Boone is probably more DE than JACK. Clev Lubin would be a JACK. I think Jalonnie Wiliams would be an interior DL.

On3 has us as the favorite for Nico Davillier. On3 really needs to update the size of the players in their data base.

Too many of you are not willing to let the process play out. This was never going to be an immediate turnaround. It was always going to take time due to the destruction Arnett caused to the program.
He didn't post this to argue with you. I wanted his opinion. I happen to agree with him. But I realize we along with several others on here are just 25 years behind your great understanding of the game.

Can anyone look at our recruiting and see a plan? Defense isn't improving except at LB and maybe S so far. What we doing with Turner? He's toast next month but we're going to let him just cruise past recruiting to retirement? Makes no sense at all.
It's like I said before, top guys aren't coming to play in this. You've got to show progress and a plan and we have done neither. Lebby is a really good OC that's lost as a HC so far. If we don't win 5/6 games, nobody is playing here next time either.
This is honestly exactly where I am at. I am still baffled at how the JA thing went down. Without even trying hard, I knew what was about to happen there based on people in multiple other programs and I thought surely our staff would be ahead of it. And they weren't. I still don't understand Charlie having to call around last minute to raise money like we didn't realize that there would be a bidding war on any decent QB in this league. We would have been better off to have never been in the game with him than to take that PR hit. It's almost like we knew we were going to let MVB walk and we needed something to give fans optimism for a few days.

Thanks for the compliment. Maybe one day I will become a true student of the game.
"Alexa what is a JACK linebacker"

Which is weird because Nakos reported his top two to be UCLA and A&M like 2 hours ago.

Pretty much the same plan Kenny Dillingham had when he took over the Arizona State mess. Even Dillingham had the true freshman starting QB who decided to transfer out because he wasn't guaranteed a starting spot.

This year coming up will be similar to this season. Dillingham flipped it in two years, we will not. We can end that comparison right there.
