They can?t sign until after midnight on the last day they visited. So with Jalin Smith, today would be the day he could sign.

I had someone ask me why we just don't go after Murphy, but I don't think he runs enough to be a good fit for the offense. Anyone got a different opinion?

Truth is hitting on a QB is more than just tools. The ones that succeed in the SEC outside of the Bama and GA where the surrounding talent are excellent tend to be very mobile and have a very strong competitive drive that makes up for lack of elite tools. You just have to find the right fit to scheme as well. That's the thing we can't judge on message boards or from highlight videos. You need to find that guy that doesn't slide two yards short on a 3rd down, can inspire the team around him to play above their level and just basically refuse to lose.

I have no idea of the mentality of JA or the other guys we are after, but I hope we find someone that can elevate the team around them and be a playmaker.

IMO, Murphy has accuracy issues. He?s physically talented but would be like Joe Milton in this offense.

The truth hurts. We have some ?good people? in our program but not good negotiators or good strategist. We have money but are so far behind on recruitment planning and strategy implementation that it?s embarrassing.

I?m afraid there are some good people on this board that mean well but they are being used as mouthpieces without their knowledge. Truth is, we will sign some transfers but it won?t be earth shattering. Hope Lebby can work with it.

QB is the one position you can't screw up. And Lebby has in this portal cycle.

It's completely disappointing but not completely unexpected.

While I've been pretty hard on Lebby, I don't see what he could have done better with the QB situation in Arnold. Dan lost Cam to damn Gene Chizik. We can't beat out anyone for a QB unless it's a Mississippi kid.

I feel fairly confident we will lock him up. Then again, now that we are on him 4 other teams will magically pop up. It is why our coaches do not like feeding who we are after to any of the media. They learned this last year with a few WRs.

2. Paid him to not visit Auburn.

3. Not take his relationship with Arnold for granted.

If Shapen coming back is an issue with getting another QB then I almost wish he wasn't coming back. No way Shapen will last the season. He has never lasted more than 4 or 5 games in any season he's played.

I wanted Arnold, but after watching Luke?s tape I could get behind this. He?s not as fast as Arnold, but he?s got a really good arm. Let?s get this guy and finish the portal strong and roll with it
