Wouldn't even happen then. They wouldn't form a 'Super League' to crown a national champion every year who had more than 3 or 4 losses because that's exactly what would happen if you got rid of the middlin to lower level teams in big conferences. Fodder will ALWAYS be required.
TV money drives it all now, it?s all driven by eye on screens and advertising revenue. They will sell it as more great teams able to play each other rather than the run of the mill conference games. It will happen and it is just a matter of when.
