This system will always be here in some sort of fashion. So my advice, go find another sport. Because NIL is everywhere and in every college sport. From high school all the way to P5.

I'm sick and damn tired of people saying why they won't give. No one gives a flying 17 why you won't give. But stop promoting why you won't give. If you're not going to be part of the solution, then please don't add to the problem.

I love how some of you guys think you can put your heads in the sand until this "straightens out". That could take years, if ever.

I think the whole NIL deal is ****ing stupid. But, it's the reality we have to deal with. Adapt or die.

It's extremely stupid and every fan base understands that and speaks that fact. The problem is, that they say "Ok, these are the rules. Let's play by them until their changed.". Whereas our fan base is, "Well the NCAA is gonna change this when it fails and go back to the old way" or "Well we may be left out of a super league, but when it fails they'll all come back to the old days". Newsflash: They're not going back to the "old days".

    Trapgame agree totally.

I don?t like it either and think they will in some way improve it.

However, If we wait until it is perfect for us to participate we will be so behind it will be disastrous.

Most of us agree but like they said in The Wire - the game is the game.

It’s not enough to take a girl on a nice date on. If you’ve got to choose what to do with 40 bucks as if it’s life or death…keep the 40 bucks. It’s really not rocket science. If you can afford it and want to, then give. If you can afford it and don’t want to, don’t. But all sports are like this now. Basketball and baseball too. If you want any of them to be decent, we must pony up the money. I’m not a fan of NIL or the wayit’s structured. But if we don’t play ball now, there won’t be a time to play ball later.
I'll allow you to take me on a nice date for 40 bucks. Get me a large M&M blizzard, we can swing into Mac Donald's I'll order off the dollar menu two double cheese burgers and a small fri, I'll let you drive me up to some cow pasture and we can argue football all night long. You get home with some cash in your pocket and some frustration dealt with by chatting up how much we hate NIL.

I think we have an older representation on this board who are nostalgic of how it used to be (even tho we were bad in those times too). The gentleman who keeps talking about having season tickets since the 70's but refuses to donate is a good example. If you don't like NIL, that is fine and I understand, I don't like it either. But this is the way it is, it's not changing, and it's here to stay. If you aren't interested, please just move on (or even better, lie and say you donate to get others interested); if you can afford it anything recurring monthly adds up.

I mean think about it, if you're a season ticket holder who hates NIL and refuses to play the game... it's advantageous for you to not be negative towards it. You get a better product on the field for your season tickets if our NIL supports that. We just got an $8M donation, we aren't far out of it as people think.

Here's how much times have changed, double cheeseburgers are now $3.19 at my local McDonald's lol I also miss the dollar menu glory days but that is well in the past.

Anybody who thinks we're going back to the 2014 way of doing things is either dumb as rocks or very naive. This genie is out of the bottle. It may be put on a leash at some point but it ain't going back in the bottle. This is the new age of college football.

And what's really funny is the people bitching about giving could just give $25 a month for one year and they alone could buy a really nice defensive line. And when we start winning again all of sudden that giving a little bit to NIL every month ain't gonna sound so bad.

Exactly. We tried this approach after Cohen and his boy Van Horn failed so spectacularly with their baseball NIL. That put us 18-24 months behind everyone else. Thanks to Charlie and Selmon we are probably only 8-12 months behind everyone else now. We have made up a ton of ground but some people want to say, “well we suck so I am not going to give until we are better” or “the university should be paying for it so it is not my problem”.

Both of those are true btw, we do suck and the schools should be paying for it. But we cannot do anything about one of those. We can do something about the other. This is why our boosters need to get younger. These ole cigar boys do not go into an office anymore and they probably do not hang out with many people. Younger people want their team to win so they can go into the office on a Monday and hold their head high and look at that Rebel, Tiger, Volunteer, or Sooner and say “hey, we got you this year” and know that they were a reason we got that W. This is the strategy of all the young OM alums that I know out in Dallas. They may not give much, but they know their $25-$50/month combined with 1000 others probably paid for Walter Nolan. Or paid for Juice Wells. Or paid for Princely Umanmielan.

This should be required reading for all who are interested in MSU athletics.

Can we get Sarah McLachlan to record a commercial like she did for the ASPCA to play on the jumbotron and tv spots?

"Hello, I'm Sarah McLachlan," she says to the camera in the new ad. "For just dollars a day, you can help athletes without a starting spot find a home." Instead of shots of sad dogs, you replace with photos of random non-descriptive athletes in various uniforms...

In the arms of an angel... it would be hilarious!!!

As bad as our video board messages are, not surprisingly there's very little promotion of NIL/our collective.

Funds won't be our issue in building the 2025 roster. That's been taken care of.

But going 1-11 with coaches nobody knows may prove to be a huge issue.

    Wow

Bud, if you think what you said earlier actually HELPS Mississippi State then you might need to get something examined. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. If people like me actually stepped away you will see the dent that you have created.

And for the record I don?t say people that contribute to NIL are idiots. I say based on some of these posts that some posters are idiots. There is a difference. As I said before, if you want to give then give. If you don?t then don?t. Simple as that but making post after post about NiL and how the average fan needs to give more and then land blasting someone who doesn?t, man talking about missing the boat.

That a way to create a wedge in an already split fan base. Wow just wow.

BTW, there is one “cigar boy” that is actually contemplating canceling his quarterly donation, his name is one one of our stadiums. Instead he is going to redirect it to the flight department. I guess he should just leave with the rest of the losers as well correct?

His son is in his ear all the time about withdrawing from athletics and giving to aviation since last fall. Was a huge CML fan and Arnett almost made it happen.

Just be careful what you wish for.

As I said, let him go. In the words of Mike Leach, "Sometimes you have to get rid of the malcontents".

Actually we won't see a dent. You don't donate. Literally would be nothing leaving the account of the Bulldog Initiative. You're part of the problem are part of the solution. The NIL deniers are the one's splitting the fan base. I have said on MULTIPLE OCCASSIONS, give if you want and don't if you don't. But the people who perpetuate this crap, spread hate about NIL, and give statements like "maybe some of us don't care about winning" need to get the 17 out of the fan base. Go support Southern. They don't care about winning. The only one you are hurting at the end of the day is Mississippi State. You're not saving anyone or bringing people to the light. You really think all of us don't know this is a crock of shit? We do. But instead of bitching and complaining and giving reasons why we should not donate: We just do it because we want Mississippi State to succeed.

Take a step back from the ledge, you will really be crying if this guy and his wife did that……very foolish remark. Pretty sure he accounts for about 20-30 percent of annual donations but yeah let him go.
