I mean would you really have wanted to keep Moorhead or Arnett???? Firing coaches isn't always the answer but it sure as hell was in the two instances we did it.

Rumor was Sark wanted our job before we hired Leach. If that's true we royally screwed the pooch.

And Leach recruiting was worse than a dumpster fire

Look who was doing the hiring......hell we were going to hire Joe Judge until the Giants saved our ass. I don't know that Sark wanted the job, but I know he was interviewed.

I mean we truly backdoored into Leach.

His recruiting had its flaws, but he kept us relevant. Leach's biggest flaw and greatest strength were the same thing. He didn't need superior athletes to beat you with his system. He also openly loathed defense so we were never going to be great defensive recruiting wise under him. However, we still got some dudes. Missing on all the talent we did last year in recruiting and the portal set us back. Also not being more active in the portal in the offseason between 22 and 23

Pre-portal connected friend of mine stated that post Leach (before his tragic passing), that it would take 5 years to rebuild the team from his scheme. Arnett disaster didn't help either. Lebby inherited a gutted, lack of SEC talent roster and our portal haul last year was rushed and very questionable, especially on "D".

Pre Portal that is/was correct. I mean you either have to hire another AR guy or commit to a completely full rebuild. The completely full rebuild is where we were heading with Arnett.

Taking Ole Miss Route?pay the offense first and show life then focus on defense. If we didn?t have so many people openly oppose to how the game is played, we may be able to have had some extra funds to go get some dudes on the DL. A good starting DL in the SEC is at least $375K. But some of our fans would rather have little Bobby Jo from Academy because his daddy was at the school at the same time as me and is a good fella. Does things the right way.

BINGO. You have to play the game now. Like I've said before, I've lost the battle on saying that you can't complain if you don't donate but when people say we have a talent deficiency there's a fix to it. Lebby has the right idea though. Get the offense right and then we'll figure out the defense.

Yep, went back to it on the 2nd and long play on ASU's last drive. It prevented us from getting the ball back. Just really stupid.

And Lebby didn't help himself with the no name inexperienced DC hire. Our defensive portal recruiting was beyond awful in Lebby's first year for a team that had starter jobs open all over the place.

I agree but more like two years b/c 2020 really didn't count. 2021 we would have been riding high and he would have bolted.

And you think a big name DC wants to come here? There are two options at MSU ...take a chance on an unproven coach or a retread with baggage .....pick your poison...both have pluses and minuses.....I'd rather take my chance with a young hungry guy than a guy looking to pad his retirement.

Had Leach lived, we would be in the same boat as Ole Miss right now. But you wouldn't have hired him? Come on man...

Bobby Jo plays with heart and he's tough! Espcially for a 5'10" 192 lb defensive end!

We don't need a big name DC just someone who has enough experience to load a ****ing box. There are several experienced G5 DCs running really good defenses for the G5 level that would have walked to Starkville for an interview.

Bobby Jo is a 5'11 WR that runs a 5.3 flat in the 40. "But he catches it every time!!"
