I wasn’t talking about the 10 straight TDs. I was referring to the fact that some people can’t fathom that we could possibly have a good offense because we built this particular offense with portal players.

Oklahoma scored 70 on Arkie State, and 66 on Tulsa last season.
2019 UCF put up 63 on Temple. Ole Miss 2021 put up 54 on Peay and 61 on Tulane. Just saying, Lebby's never been one in the past to "not show stuff" against OOC opponents.
We aren't going to open up the play book and we'll play as many guys as possible. We might still score but I'm not sure about 50+, but I hope so. We don't have a lot of quality depth in a number of places. I'll be chuggy them expensive beers and raising hell.

Why would we hold things back in game one with a new offense? It's not like people don't know what Lebby is going to do anyway.

I posed the question after watching Arkansas score the last of 10 TDs on 10 straight offensive drives with just 26 seconds left. I don't care how bad Pine Bluff is, do you realize how absurdly difficult that would be against Fayetteville High? Regardless of Spineless Bluff's ineptitude, an offense is going to have a hiccup or two like drive killing penalties, missed blocks, dropped passes or RB's slipping down trying to make a cut. Nothing derailed Arkansas's 10 drives last night. They never punted and never lined up for a field goal and never had a 4th down. Petrino was caught smiling after the 10th TD with only 26 seconds left. There was never a thought to taking a knee inside the 10 yard line and letting the clock run out.
The one thing that State has NEVER showed in my 60 years of fandom is Killer Instincts! If there is ever a time to show it, it is against an opponent you had to pay over $500k to come play you! I'll be looking for the kill shot in the early 4th. I'll be looking for a well oiled machine, without pre-snap penalties, poor blocking, missed tackles, dropped passes, fumbles, running the wrong way. Crisp quick play calling, not No-huddle using 27 seconds like we have seen the last 6 years!

I use to be against this until I found out how much we pay these teams to come and play.
Now I feel that we need to do what we need to in order to be ready, improve.

Only thing that I disagree with is I might try a field goal. Even if it's first down just to get them ready for next week

Absolutely.
As long as the power doesn't go out on the Playstation.

You think we need to open up the playbook? Hell naw! Lebby has kept everything on lock down and he's not shooting his wad against EKU. He'll score a lot regardless.

There is value on working on things against live competition. Like the reverse to Creed that went 41 yards for a TD.
