Can State score TDs on 10 straight drives Saturday?

Would Lebby keep the hammer down if he gets a chance to do that, scoring the final TD with 26 seconds left?

    I'd love to see that.

But I doubt that happens because that's really hard to do.

We do need something eye popping like 60+ points though.

putting up a 40-something is very realistic. A 60-something? Not so much

If we score on 10 straight drives we're winning 8-9 games this year.

I am all in on Lebby but I think we have put unrealistic expectations on this offense. It will be average at best this year

Pine Bluff is among the worst of the worst in the SWAC. They got blown out in conference every game but the one that they won. Eastern KY is no powerhouse but they were in most of their games last year except the blowout to Cincy.

Pine Bluff is a step above JUCO. Arkansas could have won that game easily with their 4th string.

Average at best compared to what? The rest of the SEC? I think most would take that.

What we need to see is the scoring improve. I think averaging over 30ppg is a great start.

If Shapen throws for 3000 yards and the team rushing total is 1800+ then I think most would be ecstatic with that. The sad part is those numbers would be well below what Lebby has produced in his career but would be near the top 5 in MSU offensive production, which is extremely sad going into year 125 of football.

ETA: There were over 60 teams last year that threw for 3000 yards or more and 80+ teams that rushed for 1800 yards or more. We set our expectation SO LOW on offense because of MSU history that many fans can't even fathom that we can be close to average statistically. It is very very sad.

With the new rules of running the clock, two minute warning addition and helmet radios for QB' and one defensive player the most significant may be the helmet radios.

They are giving on field instructions as they are giving the play calls. This is cutting down on turnovers as fewer interceptions have already been a theme. This causes the game scoring to be lower in these type games as they have fewer short fields or pick 6's.

Things are being said like... first play call is given.... then QB will be told who is hot and what to watch or what the coaches see in who is creeping up etc.. This is really cutting down on interceptions even by FCS teams.

A 40 point win is plenty if the team looks ready to play and are we well coached. Keep in mind, you should not see a starter out there unless we have real issues with depth after the 3rd qtr and hopefully sooner. Mid-4th I hope to see some 3rd stringers getting in on the action and making some plays here and there.

I want to see 4 TD's and a FG in the first 5 drives and a shut out in the first half and to start the 3rd QTR. After that, I want to see depth players holding their own and still outplaying the opponent finishing up with some more scoring and a defense that still can stop a drive.

Last year- half the SEC averaged 30 or more points. Half did not

Being around 30 PPG is definitely possible and wouldnt really shock. That would make us average

Half the SEC rushed for 1800 yards. So that number for us would make us what people are expecting- average

9/14 teams passed for 3K in the SEC last year. So reaching that number would once again- make us average. Again- nobody has said we shouldnt expect that this season.

But expecting to score 60-something points tomorrow would mean we are way above average offensively. That would surprise. Especially when you have to factor in a defense that this season is expected to be below average.

Agreed. I get that a segment of people are being debbie downers because of "da portal, 10 of 11 players". But with Lebby's pace of play and Shapen being a SR, barring injury, anything less than a 3k passing 1500 yard rushing season is a failure and would be typical MSU. And that is on the low end of what we should be producing.

We could score 50 if we chose to, but we won't choose to. We aren't showing squat this week. EKU isn't good at all.

I get that everyone is excited about a new offense but maybe a better question is how much they score against our defense

OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Ole Miss campus police ask students to behave at future baseball games following a recent incident.
The university said students were reportedly throwing rocks at Georgia baseball players during last weekend's series.

We won't choose to? I'm not saying i disagree that we score 50 tomorrow per se. BUT, if the offense works like Lebby wants, points will come.

Oklahoma scored 70 on Arkie State, and 66 on Tulsa last season.

2019 UCF put up 63 on Temple. Ole Miss 2021 put up 54 on Peay and 61 on Tulane. Just saying, Lebby's never been one in the past to "not show stuff" against OOC opponents.

Yeah, I think we're going to let it all hangout. Our official slogan is "Showtime" and they want to show recruits (and fans) big numbers.

I see zero reasons to hold anything back. Put up numbers, run some complex routes, run pick plays, etc. Give the other teams something to take into consideration. Be multiple and put up a ton of points.
You want one of hte best offenses in the country, you have to load up on yards and points against shitty teams. Look at how Tenn does it.

Lebby will most definitely run the score up if he can. He has proven that in his history. The question is, can he with this roster?

Nobody is being a Debbie downer lol the literal title of this thread is can state score 10 TD straight. Do you realize how absurdly difficult that would be to do? Context man
