Not if it’s Justin Haire. He would have to completely rebuild. And btw I love Haire. Think he is a rising star, but he would have to completely rebuild through the portal and do it without Justin Parker out of all likelihood.

Not to pile on Lemonis, but I would honestly trust Haire's evaluations for rebuilding this team , than Lemonis .
It is probably my urgency in this off season, is to get the coach that knows how to evaluate the portal.

What has Haire shown you in the portal that gives you that confidence? I really believe people are basing their opinion on Haire solely off the fact that he got Zach Neto. Great signing, but he kind of got lucky. I mean no one was screaming sign the San Diego HC when he found Kris Bryant. No one has been knocking down Scott Stricklin’s door to come coach and he found Charlie Condon.

I think SC hiring Lemonis would be a disaster for us, because I'm sure he would take Parker and Mershon with him.

Outside of a few superstars who can afford to be choosy, "portal recruiting" is all about money. Nobody is great or terrible at it.
Whether our coach is Lemonis or Haire or someone else, I except whoever to reload well enough in the portal to make it back to a Regional next year. The question is can we have a coach who won't underachieve, have bad fundamentals, make boneheaded in-game tactical decisions, etc.

Everyone says that next year is a rebuilding year. What better time to hire a new coaching staff when expectations are low. Just sayin.

But that is my point. Why do people trust Haire to rebuild through the portal better than Lemonis?

I don't know that Haire will be any better at portal recruiting than Lemonis. He'll probably be about the same.
I don't think Haire will underachieve like Lemonis for the reasons I listed. That's the difference. If Haire (or another solid coach) had been our coach this past year, I think we are better than 17-13, better than a 2 seed, and better than a team that lost in the Regionals.

That he built a competitive regional team at a school that has nothing.
He has a potential 2nd round pick this year.
But probably more about saying I have seen Lemonis enough to have doubts on his rebuilding, or really why he is in this spot anyway. That is more of it. Just saying a winning coach working with less, and who is hands on, might have a better skillset.
I think we would run the bases better than what we saw. There is that.

Hearing Petry to the portal. Going to cost a pretty penny.

I thought the story with Condon was that he was given a walkon spot as a favor to another coach not on the UGA staff. Total luck how he panned out.

He is winning at ..... Campbell. I get you are pushing on me on my posts on this, but I did not bring him up on the thread.
I would assume Pollard is the first call, if South Carolina doesn't get him. Pollard is recruiting at Duke, and that is the type I had in mind for resetting our recruiting and evaluations.

So is Randy Hood at UNCW. Why is his name not being brought up. So is Jim Penders at UCONN. Why is no one mentioning him. Jordan Bischell is doing wonders at Cincinnati. Why is no one mentioning his name. Hell Gary Gilmore at national championship at Coastal. Why did we not hire him in 19. Some of you have gotten so damn fixated on Haire that anything else is a failure. The guy is a good coach. But there are 30 Justin Haire’s out there.
I like Haire a lot. I think he would do good. But some of you think he is going to come in Year 1 and solve all the issues. He is not. He will be about the same as Lemonis. Slightly better some years and slightly worse others.

Haire would be down our list a ways. He's not a top coaching candidate here IMO. He would be a MEH hire here. Not great, not terrible.

Sure, any of those sound like good hires. The fact that it's not "Haire or bust" and actually there are a lot of good names out there that we could probably hire is further evidence that we'll be fine if Lemonis leaves us.

He's the floor. If we hire someone better, great. His name is only being brought up to disprove the meltdowners who say we'll never be able to hire anyone beyond a D3 or JUCO coach.
