Hey TUSK I got the best Solution for you. I hear there is a pretty good engineering school about 40 miles west of you that you can attend and get some learning done! You're even close enough to go home every day and tend the still.

    thanks for responding...

I am building a sawmill shed out of rough sawn #1 grade pine. These are all "true" dimensions...

Posts to be set ~12' oc
    Beams 3.5x10x~12
    Rafters (~12' span) 2x8x12 48" oc
Purlins (laid flat) 2x6x12 36" oc
Metal panels on top w/ 10#Dead/20#Live Loads

I'm most concerned on the sizing/centers on the rafters... that seems like a smallish rafter for such a big spacing.... Should I go to a 3x6, 4x6x12? Maybe reduce to 36" oc?

I can't find a span table online and don't have the ENG skilz to figure loads...

ETA - I'd rather use fewer, bigger timbers than more, smaller timbers....

Pancho, I sent this via PM, as well...
    There?s a subreddit for these type ??
