TEXAS GAME THREAD - Madden vs Harding

Bednar starts the game at 0-0 no matter what. Our chances largely ride on how well he pitches. Not the case with Sims, we have to get it to Sims.

And my main argument for holding Bednar was never that he didn't give us a better chance to win Friday, it was that I liked our chances with Harding and if you win Friday, you get to pitch Bednar completely rested in game 1 Monday.

And that's exactly where we still had a very good chance to be if we go Sims there.

Could be. Maybe sims gets us thru the 9th and we see the rain delay, but don't score. Then we potentially have a deciding game tomorrow with no sims. I just don't think the decision was as clear cut as you

So I guess Sims quit and left the team sometime in the last hour. Or perhaps he had a sudden heart attack. God rest his soul. His poor mother.

Yeah, they are really protective of Sims arm this year for whatever reason. Maybe they know something we don't.

But we just haven't had anyone else step up in the pen lately. The problem was the leadoff walk, at least make him get a hit. That changed the whole dynamic right off the bat.

Granted, the only reason we're even discussing any of this is because they walked a bunch of guys in the 8th. We made them pay by at least tying it and but couldn't finish the job. Then we gifted it right back and they took advantage.

In a tie game...9th inning...you just cannot under any circumstances give the first 2 guys a free base. That's just bending over and saying "Give it to me Bevo."

I think Lem was banking on the wx delay. That was why he stalled when he did. Can’t blame him for not running Sims out in 9th, I believe if wx was not going to be an issue you would have seen him pitch. Still believe firmly along with the rest of all baseball managers and try to steal a win against TX ace. The horse was beat to death and I am not arguing with idiots about it. It was absolutely the right call to go Hootie who actually did a decent job, was left in too long though. Our hitters not showing up in middle innings will define this team. Hail State and finish the job tomorrow.

Even if Lemonis didn't start Sims in the 9th why not bring him in to try and get 2 outs when TX had the man at 2nd?

I am always for winning today but if you can set it up to be absolutely sitting pitching wise perfectly for a three game set and you have a game to play with, YOU DO IT. Any tournament ball coach,player or hell even umpire know this. You can Monday morning QB it all you want, it is the way it is. The story was too many walks and our hitters chasing crap. Simple as that. Also, not catching a pop up that turns into lead off double doesn’t help either.

I think the biggest thing that plays to this is him leaving Hootie in for the 3rd time through the lineup.

And I get it. It's tough to pull the kid. He's up there on the mound barking saying let's f***ing roll it coach let me f***ing roll it. You want to believe in the kid and give him a shot. He's done well this postseason.

But if it was a do or die game, Tullar comes in there 100% to face the two lefties. But he left Hootie in knowing if everything went to hell we still had tomorrow.

Once we saw that Vandy won it should have been Bednar gets the start and you close with Sims. Rocker was burnt today and Lieter will be burned tomorrow. It would be bullpen games for the first couple games in the NC for both teams. Instead we will burn Bed tomorrow and he won?t throw a pitch in the NC.
