early 2022 mock nfl first round
Todd McShay has charles cross going 4th overall. Obviously, it's way early, but better to start high than have to climb the latter.

Easier to climb the latter than the former though.

Well it certainly isn't based off film.

We will end up with 2 1st rounders and 3 2nd rounders on our way to the Natty.
-
Cross likely wont go Top 5- but he can certainly end up a 1st round pick. I love Brule but he isnt going 1st round. We will absolutely have more draft picks in 2022 than we did this past season.
Walk like the King or walk like you don't care who the King is

We should definitely have more. Cross, Brule, Emerson, Wheat, and Green should be givens.
Depending on their season, Jordan Davis, Fred Peters, Scott Lashley

We are going to end up with one real season of Cross which is sad

Yeah, but we?ll have a first round OT to use as a recruiting tool for perpetuity

Given that we have multiple 1st round DL recently, yet still can't land top in state DL prospects, I don't put much stock in the recruiting pitch angle. Maybe if Cross was a low 3* and we developed him into a 1st rounder we could sell it more.... but then again, we developed several NFL OL and they don't seem to help in recruiting either.

THIS^....first sentence sums it up.
Shot across the bow of the recruiting coordinator if I'm not mistaken.

If our Oline actually understands the blocking scheme then we should win 7. Saying that, I assume 6 wins. Cross can certainly be in that top 5-10 range. If you are the best LT in the SEC then you are more than likely the best in the country. He definitely has the athleticism that the NFL looks for in a LT.

What has he shown on the field to be this high on any draft board? I remember seeing him this high on someone's board even a year ago. I get the talent and potential standpoint but from what I've seen thus far on the field I don't see top 5. Heck I don't see 1st round. I hope he gets there.

That is quite the leap of faith.

He's 6' 7" and has been in multiple SEC systems. He was passed over by better talent at Bama and had to learn how to block in the Air Raid in year 1 with us. If he grades out well this year someone will draft him. He's got skill but his poor decision on the front end to go to Bama is costing him in the long run.
