I think we schedule them because we want easy games to get all our arms involved and given a chance to work through problems.

Play decent teams and you might not be able to leave a bad pitcher in long enough for them to learn anything. Play a Swac team and Hunt crapping them bed shouldnt matter.

Agree on the AB's. Hatcher in the 8th was a perfect example. Leadoff hitter, down 5 runs. Swings at the first pitch, curveball, bottom of the zone and pops it up. 3 up, 3 down, non-competitive at bats.
The 4 earned runs is an example of a baseball scoring anomaly. Why was that error huge? Because Dunlavey put runners on and it made it even worse. Neither should have happened. It's everyone on the teams fault.

I'm fine scheduling a couple of them a year but we definitely schedule too many. I can't complain too much about the schedule OOC though. Oregon State, Long Beach State, Texas Tech, USM, Ole Mis, Samford, etc. It's pretty respectable overall.

The season is no where near over and we could still very well be a national seed, but this will be a huge black mark on our rpi.

Expectations were probably a bit too high after losing Magnum

And Small and Mac and the unsung guy- Skelton. And now we are dealing with losses of Ginn and Smith.

Need a couple of bats to get going.

I don't think so. We had two guys who were potentially first round picks in Ginn and Westburg. Foscue is a top five round pick and Tanner Allen and Rowdey Jordan are good veteran college players.

At any rate we definitely shouldn't lose to Texas Southern.

What frustrates me some is when I see the coaching staff putting guys out there that struggled in the fall and spring and then they keep putting them out there on the field in key situations. It's not surprising at all to me that Dunlavey and Leggett have been bad. It's also not surprising to me that Pimentel has struggled although I think he will be good in time. It's like Lemonis's attitude is just throw them out there and let them all figure it out. I guess that works OK if you have Jake Mangum kicking people in the ass when needed but he's not here any more to do that so now Lemonis has to actually coach.

Well he (Lemonis) mentioned tonight that he is going to have to do a better job at setting the lineup .. Good AB, Good AB, then Sloppy AB. I realize the pitchers we faced tonight were not burning them in there, but there didnt seem to be any adjustments at the plate throughout the game. It was almost just .. Swing Away and see what happens.

I dont remember but I do recall having to wait to go to work on the field after bc Cohen was making their asses run foul line to foul line. Then when OM mopped the floor with us I think in 2015 Cohen we had to wait again bc he ripped them for 15 mins then made them run foul poles. I worked on the grounds crew while I went to JUCO

Yeah. That MSU team had a losing record that year too. The wheels came off after that loss.

Yeah well, Cohen shouldn't have started Ross Mitchell that game. That was dumb on his part. Anyway I remember hearing that after we lost the Governor's Cup in I think 2009 or 2010 Cohen made the bus stop somewhere in the middle of nowhere in the backwoods of Mississippi and just ripped the team's ass right there for about 10 minutes.

Losing Mangum had much less to do with it than losing all that pitching & Ginn.

I think the lineup will be fine, but the pitching staff lacks talent

Adjustment number one is to sit Pimentel for now. Play Cumbest and Brock.

Adjustment number two is to never to play Tanner Leggett ever again. Him making the team over Noah Fondren is way more questionable than Michael Smith over Luke Reynolds. At least Smith could contribute stolen bases and play defense. I can't figure that move out because Fondren is way more versatile and just a better player overall.

Adjustment number three is to tell Gautreau to get off his ass before SEC play instead of just assuming that every hitter wants to just do their own thing and not listen to him. Surely in our own ballpark we have some kind of hitting tunnel where our guys can set the machine to 84 MPH. Or hell at the very least tell them to scoot up in the batter's box or ****ing something. Maybe....just maybe Gautreau the players will actually listen to you if you give them some feedback. I mean give them the benefit of the doubt.

And he needs to tell Foxhall that Dunlavy need to sit for the rest of the year too. He was below average at Furman and then couldn't get our guys out and now we're running him out there regularly.

I'll just say this- if Jack Eagan is healthy I'm going to be pissed even more about tonight. Because we have better talent than the guys that got lit up tonight. I don't disagree about the talent part because that was my concern coming into the season and it's mostly a hodge-podge of JUCO's, freshmen, and grad transfers but this is not the first time Foxhall has made a pretty head scratching decision with the staff. He grossly underused Colby White last year and used Trysten Barlow and Riley Self way too much. It cost us in Omaha against Vanderbilt.

I'm not saying that the loss doesn't matter, cause it's a really bad loss. But people seem to be quick to forget that our world beater 2016 team who IMO was a top 5 team in MSU history lost to Eastern Kentucky and Oral Roberts in consecutive nights. They followed that up by taking two of 3 at Vandy, who was number 1 at the time. You can recover from midweek losses. Cohen always had a couple of WTF midweek losses. Our bats need to wake up, but this doesn't doom the season.
