Curtis Johnson at Tulane. Most realistic coach that we could get and probably best coach with no extra baggage. Obviously Petrino is the best, but I don't see him resonating well with the fan base in the deep South. He knows the South and knows how to recruit in the South. Plus he has a Super Bowl ring so that could only help.

He may have coached in the South, but that doesn't mean he knows how to recruit it. We would all roll our eyes at his recruiting here; it would be awful.
He would not do well in MS, especially not competing against Freeze, and we saw at Arkansas that even while winning double-digit games in the SEC, he's not going to bring in great talent.

Jim Leavitt the former USF coach that brought them from not even having a football team all the way to #2 in the BCS. He's the LB coach for the 49ers. The guy was a stud at USF. Bama offered him the job before Saban. Look him up. He deserves another shot. He didn't get fired because USF sucked. He got fired for allegedly striking a player I believe. He'd be a total STEAL.

Thanks to Dak, Mullen ain't going nowhere. You don't leave a 3 million dollar job with superstar QB, for an equal paying job and no current QB.
Just like Manziel did for Sumlin, Dak can make Mullen a boat load of money in two years.
-
Kingsbury from TX Tech would wreak havoc in the AEC with our offensive players coming back. Be like having mikebLeach without the baggage. Just need to retain Collins or find a very close equal.

This. Dak will do awesome things for us next season. Let's just enjoy it. Dak saved Dan's reputation (I won't say Job) this year when he came in and we won the Egg Bowl. I see a helluva two year run for us with the Dak Knight at the helm. '98-'99 all over again.

I thought he was one of the best. I wonder how his players liked him?

Idk but I'm sure we could find out. What he did at USF was a minor miracle. Zero football program all the way to #2 in the nation.

Mullen declined Miami twice previously.

Chad Morris with Ogre as co-head coach and DC.

I don't see how a Super Bowl ring helps? This is college football, not pro.

Super Bowl ring helps in recruiting

Believe Mullen has too much going to leave but if he did we could recycle
Lou Holtz?
Bobby Bowden?
Bobby Hall?
Bobby Wallace?
Just to name a few Bobby's-the possibilities are endless!

well yeah, this is all conjecture because CDM isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Kingsbury is not an option, period. Not only did he play at Texas Tech, he is one of the most well-loved players they've ever had and he loves them just as much.
Imagine if Anthony Dixon were our head coach. Would he leave us? Maybe for an elite job, but even then, probably not. Absolutely no chance he'd leave for a program of our stature, and Kingsbury is the same for Texas Tech.

Remember, USF was farcically overrated that year and was "#2 in the BCS" in like week 6 or 7. He's a good coach and all, but his actual record isn't anything special:

Petrino is a non-starter.
Infidelity vs Preacher Man? We're not going to hand them that PR campaign even though a lot of us know some of Freeze's past indiscretions.
-
He STARTED that football program. Meaning in 1996 they didn't play a single game of football. I'd say a 95-57 record is pretty damn impressive. In 8 of their first 9 seasons as a 1-A school they had a .500 or better record. He took them to a bowl game every single season when they joined the Big East. 5 in a row.

That might be a way to bring Freezus' piccadillos to light and expose his snake oil salesman routine for what it is. Then again, that would leave Freezus the opporitunity to pull a Jim Baker "I have sinned" act and make his phony bologna, plastic banana act that much stronger.
