So you say 7-5 or 6-6. Hmm. I'll be honest w that schedule it's tough for me to see 10-2. But last time they were coming off a down year and nobody thought they were going to be good,(and they didn't have the returning dL they have this year) they beat ga and bama and were a win away from being in the playoff. So I'd say 9-3. Lots of talent in that lockeroom

I dont think Nick or Carter are true points but both can acquit themselves at the position.

This team should make the tournament, though.

Any thoughts on Nick Weatherspoon starting at point guard next season for Miss. State? Very physically explosive athlete, leaper. Tough player that goes hard. The other two primary candidates are Tyson Carter and Iverson Molinar.
If it?s Carter, we?re screwed. There is more to a PG than just being able to get the ball up the floor.

I also don’t understand why ppl go after 34 either.

I don’t agree w him that Auburn returning the entire OL that was bad a year ago and is now blocking for a true freshman qb makes for a promising season but it doesn’t make me not want him to post.

I’d rather read strident takes than boring ones.

He releases off opponents poor shot attempts for easy baskets and can dribble penetrate to finish or kick out despite not being a true point.

We have enough talent around him to put him there in stretches.

Gus will be coaching desperate and that might give them an edge in toss up games. If Gus doesn’t have a 10-2 or 9-3 season, he’s going to be fired.

Molinar has impressed so far. I think he gets a shot.

I don’t know about you but a Sugar Bowl appearance to me isn’t a down year. They were in the Sugar Bowl in 2016. That schedule they have is brutal. I think their biggest early games that may tell the tale will be Oregon and us. Starting a true freshman QB is pretty brazen and shows desperation when your first game is against Oregon. We will be undefeated going on the road against Auburn and whoever can win that game could propel themselves to a great season if Auburn is also undefeated. Auburn also could have 2 losses at that point and see their season as over. You really never know until you get to that situation.

Did Auburn start a true freshman QB in 2017 and does this Auburn team have an elite RB like they did in 2017? Um, nope. Hell, their 2017 OL was loaded that year. This one is shit. I’m thinking closer to 7-5 then 10-2 myself.

They went 8-5 in 2016. So yeah. That's down for auburn.

Not historically. It seems to be their average year. Their down year was 2015 and 2012 but by and by they are mostly an 8-5 type team with outliers in 2010, 2013, and 2017.

It's a fool's errand to try to predict Gus's auburn (and maybe auburn in general). They are basically the successful version of UM. Play the recruiting game such that you're always getting the type of lock room that could be derailed, but you basically always have the talent to be extremely dangerous, even if there are some holes.

I see them being basically like us last year, with a defense good enough to make them dangerous against any team that can't just shut them down. But they won't be running a new offense and they will get the ball to the best playmakers they have, so they won't be quite as easy to shut down as we were last year. I'm guessing Bama and UGA are just too good for them barring some flukish luck, and then @LSU and @FL are going to be extremely tough.

I think their offense, even if it's extremely run heavy, is going to be tough for us with our interior DL. I just have visions of them stretching us out with their sweep stuff and then just punching us for steady gains up the middle.

How many years can Gus go 8-5 and not get fired? How's that?? So they had 3 outliers in less than a decade?? That's a third of the years????

They’re not starting their running QB and don’t have an elite RB nor do they have an elite OL like their 2013 and 2017 teams did. It’s just a typical Gus 8-5 team. Gus has gone 8-5, 7-6, 8-5, 8-5 and had one elite year in 2013 and one great year in 2017. The thing Gus has been great at has been going 8-5.

4 times Gus has gone 8-5 and only twice has he had 10+ win seasons. 8-5 seems to be what he’s mostly consistent at.

I think you need to look at their record without their bowl games. Last year's team that got to 8-5 by destroying Purdue in a bowl game was not very good. I think the 2016 team that got to 8-5 by winning 8 in the regular season but lost to Oklahoma in the bowl game was probably a lot closer to the really good 2017 team than last year's mediocre team. Probably the same thing is true for their 2014 8-5 team that lost to Wisconsin in the Outback bowl.

Well he’s gotten to 8-5 whether with a bowl win or loss more times then he’s gotten any other record. That seems to be the norm for him so a safe bet with Auburn and Gus is they somehow find their way to 8 wins.
