Amen. That we were a 5 seed was a testament to how soft a bubble the tourney had this year! We were a slightly above average basketball team that had 2 huge glaring weaknesses that were easily exploited by good basketball teams, especially on the road:
1. Turnovers - wayyyy too many, never valued the basketball
2. Terrible team defense - never learned to play team defense and when you had 2 starters who were far too often torched in man to man, you must have excellent help side D. We did not. Howland never tried a zone, and he should have, especially after losing Nick

If not for fatboy, he would probably be here. He bet and lost, pure and simple.

When he told an athletic club that he thought he could manage said fatboy, but still has trouble coaching him, that was the END!

That's absolutely false. There were lots of cancers on those late Stansbury Era teams, and it's ridiculous to pin the blame solely on Renardo (who is a total shithead, don't get me wrong).

Same reason we think we are a perennial basketball powerhouse because we went to the final four in 1996. That was almost a quarter a century ago....23 years!!... and Stans wasn’t the coach of that team. Matter of fact, he never came close to smelling the final four! I like him and his family a lot, and we won some great games while he was here, but his scheme was pretty tame. Let him GO! Don’t hold him back anymore!

We just had a quicker trigger on Stans than Jackie. Jackie went at least one year too long. 2000 was a let down and then follow it up with 2001 and 2002 but then give him another year to make sure we are fully at the bottom.
If we hire someone like Howland instead of Rick Ray (or any competent D1 head coach) then the program is in an entirely different place.

He typically got a couple of shooters and the rest just great athletes and taught them to play defense and rebound. When he got great basketball players then we had years like 2004. At the end he lost the team and they weren't buying in to play defense and rebound as a team.
No reason a team with the talent of Moultrie and Dee Bost should have missed the tournament and then not even win the NIT.

The real rumblings going on in the Athletic department is the bowling in of the south endzone and putting in a hotel, along with premium seating. Which would be a trendsetter in the college football world.

Stansbury lost it when Robert Kirby went to Georgetown. Kirby was the disciplinarian and a semblance of a X's and O's guy.
Praise The Lord and Go Dawgs!!!

Yep. That would be something. Not a hotel, but luxury condos if it we me. 2 bedroom, 2 bath with seating on the field side like the sky boxes.
I would do lower bowl seating 5-8k seats, with the M Club above, and then the condos above those.
I would have a party deck at the M Club level overlooking the junction.
A tower on one side with a giant 17n cast cowbell that the big donors get to ring 90 mintutes before the game telling everyone to go into the stadium.
Now John could hire me to design it. I would dedicate the next 5-6 years of my life to making it bad ass.
