It depends.. If he made money off of his image or name, then he has little to no case.
Both celebrity and politicians can sue for libel or slander. They have to prove it was false and made them with actual malice or was negligent in saying or writing them. Politicians don't sue because they all engage in the practice but other public figures and celebrities sue all the time and win.
