They stood there, saw the obvious and clear call, then committed gross negligence that should not be tolerated. What you are missing is if you fire anyone that makes a bad call like this, you are than left with referees who are worse than where you started with. Where do you get the next batch...college football? Do you think SEC referees are any better? NFL officials are better and its not close. To take this stance you have to have a better alternative, and sadly there isn't any. Don't forget about the replacement officials from a few years ago and that disaster
