Pickering was supposed to OV to Bama this weekend.
Just curious......does Pick want the number #22...?.that's funny. Guess we're moving him to RB or WR.

If he wants it I doubt it's an issue with him getting it. Rivers wore 5 & Sweat 9 so it's nothing out of the ordinary.

Yep, per listening to Rosebowl sounds like Lockhart has blown up recently. If we want to sign him it won't be as anyone's backup plan.

Exactly. We may get him & may not get Moore but it won't be because we had to settle for Lockhart. Nebraska TCU Iowa UNC Ga Tech & others are all fighting for 1 of these last OV. We had to offer if we want this kid & I see us pushing for him once he gets on his OV. We have proximity & a good friend of his already signed on our side.

It should help that we his teammate committed right now.

Looks like Plumlee's OV went well.
It also sounds like our baseball staff is recruiting him pretty hard which is a plus for us considering we're the best baseball school recruiting him to play both sports.

Plumlee loves Lemonis and Jake. We are in very good shape with him and his family.

What position does Plumlee play in baseball? I know he's talented if we're after him, but is he mostly a contact/speed kind of guy?

My guess would be an outfielder- probably CF based on his speed and arm strength.

OF and he's not a contact speed guy. He's got a little pop. I do think he's got a lot to work on hitting-wise to be a good SEC hitter but defensively he can go get anything.

Charles Moore has backed out of his visit on the 25th. He's coming on a midweek visit, so I look for him to be told to get in the boat or kick rocks.

Honestly, let's just let him go if he doesn't want to be here. Focus all our attention on Young and Lockhart.
The kid sounds like he has some serious issues and someone is feeding him some BS about degrees from MSU

The kid apparently has laughable people around him advising him.
Just an absurd situation for MSU.
It just makes no sense

I am fine with the kick rocks approach. I cannot imagine being a grown man having to kiss the a** of an 18 year old kid. I know it is part of the job but good grief it must be frustrating. Then to deal with all the family members looking to make an impact on recruiting just yikes.

Thing is, the Moore situation happens to every school in every state. Problem for MSU is that we can't replace that type of talent leaving with an equal or better player from out of state.
If this happened to LSU, Auburn, Bama, UGA, etc it's not near as big of a deal because they just come grab a kid from Mississippi or another state. When a kid in Alabama has this issue, the kid simply leaves to go to FSU, UGA, TN, Florida, but does not choose MSU.

I agree. That's why I couldn't coach. I couldn't kiss the ass of a high school kid. It has to get frustrating, and there's probably times when you're like "what the hell am I doing".....until you check your bank account (if you're one of the big boys)

I agree with everything you said except we can't replace with equal or better talent. Byron Young would fit that mold. Let's see what shakes out.

I'm sure he will always have a spot till the end if he wants it but I think it's time to put some pressure on him to see where he stands. Just a shame a guy committed for so long and helping you recruit is looking elsewhere in the end. And why would "people" be getting in his ear to go elsewhere? Nothing wrong with our track record of Baker and MSU putting Dlinemen in the NFL.
Hopefully Young can be his replacement if he doesn't come.

For the same reason it happens everywhere else. People advising him stand to gain and prosper/benefit from it. Recruiting is nasty business now and the NCAA doesn't really have any authority to stop it. There's too many schools with too many entrenched processes to circumvent them that it's favoring the blue bloods and the big money makers even more.
