He is going to run his offense. I think we will have success running the ball early just like we did last year for the entire game. Until last year bama could stop our running game without loading the box. They could not last year and will not this year either, so once they load the box we will have to hit some shots down field. Hopefully we can get an early lead before they figure out that they have to load up the box to stop us. This game is entirely on Fitz making quick and correct reads and the OL holding blocks long enough in pass pro to let him make a decision in the pocket. Not really scared of them defensively until we have to throw the ball. That is when Fitz has gone full retard on the road.

He's not going to run HIS offense. We don't have the players to do that. He's going to do what he's done the last two games. Basically the zone read with some simplified RPOs from his offense and probably a new wrinkle or two here and there. If we come out trying to throw the ball around, we're getting killed. We don't have the ability to do that. But we're getting killed either way if the defense doesn't score and somewhat shut down AL.

I'd say go with ball control and try to shorten the game as much as possible. If we get in a track meet it gets ugly quick.

Bama was very thin at LB last year due to injuries. I think they have some banged up guys in the secondary this year, but their health overall is good - so I don't look at last year for any comparisons.

The key will be can our Oline block well enough to move the ball and Fitz maintain proper mechanics and not sling it off his back foot.

Our secondary will be tested and I'm scared of the result. They have shown a tendency to get lost at times and you can't do that against this NFL receiving core. They don't drop passes and they all run like gazelles.

I'd feel better about us covering the spread if this game was at home. We haven't shown to be a good team on the road.

I totally understand that, and you are correct. However, that gives us no chance to win. That was mullins strategy the past 9 years. We gotta take some shots like the past two games and run some motion like we did against Auburn. If we want to have a chance to win, we gotta really mix it up. When that doesn't work, yes it will get ugly.

This. You can't beat Bama without explosive plays.

Plus with Bama being healthy in the front 7 this year, we won't be able to run it like last year.

I think he needs to watch the 2016 game to see what not to do and then watch the 2017 game to see what to do up until middle ways through the 4th.

Shorten the game by running clock.
Be successful in staying on schedule with the yard markers. (avoid the negative plays)
Take your shots when given the opportunity. (even with the group of current WR's)
Make Tua as uncomfortable as possible. (Hit him when given the opportunity)
CAN NOT LET ANYONE GET BEHIND YOU ON D! (Abrams and McLaurin must be disciplined)

That gives State at least a chance to make it a game....

If Joe plays conservative and just try's to grind it out, it gives State zero chance.

    Either way..... HAILSTATE!

I've already got the Makers lined up for Saturday. I'm skipping the beer. So I'm taking some chances to try to get this win.

I'd run a hail mary offense

Dead serious. Just drop back, roll out & bomb that bit&* every play.

If you did that 30 times, you'd catch at least 4, right?

Here is the Hail Mary completion % for those interested. Not bad.....

Fitz would throw them out of the endzone.

Stating the obvious, It's the same as it ever was in most SEC games...

    1) RTDB! ... even better than last year... think 4-5 YPC, minimum.
    2) Stop the run! If Bammer RBs are able to gash the MSU D like last year, Tua will be able to take advantage whereas Hurts wasn't...
    3) Closely related to 1 & 2... Duplicate the success y'all had last year on 3rd Downs (on both sides of the ball)... That was the key last year, IMO.

See bolded. This year, will Tua have the advantage of his WRs being able to run out of bounds and come back in to catch the ball like Hurts did last year????
