Those helmets are beyond the point of bad. They're almost embarrassing. The uni itself is ok.

I love the helmets....I wish I could get one

I always find it interesting how people can look at the same thing and see it so differently. That shit is heinous. But, whatever, I'm not here to change anyone's opinion.

Think of it like how some view women. Some guys like bigger girls, some girls like toothpicks. For me I like my women like I like my chicken, with a little fat on the end. Not to much not to little just enough to make me grin. Same way as this.

When I first saw the lids and the Mississippi from just the side I thought that shouldn't be on a helmet but when you see the pics all the way around and the back with the banner going all the way around they look pretty cool. Not cool as in that's what should always be on our lids but cool as in a one off specifically for the military, and I know our guys as well as the military will love them. Already seen several military guys from Columbus afb on Facebook wanting to get these helmets for their cases at the base. That tells me all I need to know. This is for them, not you.

Preston "Stick" Rogers the Director of Football Equipment Operations at MSU designed the helmets.

That is the worst steaming pile of shit uniform I've ever seen. The helmets are God Awful!

I quote Ed O on LSU's pimp uniforms: "Fa un gahm dat alrite."

Haha Shotgun made a joke and it's funny! I think the helmets are alright for a one off. Rest of the uniform looks like a grocery store item bar code though.

I like the idea of honoring Sonny, and see where they were going with the uni - it just so happens going with a cargo plane as inspiration leads to bland colors and lettering. If you left the banner and "STATE" off the helmet, and let it be inspired by the aircraft then I think it would be much better. To me it looks like they tried to do too much with the helmet.
I do really like the back of the helmet with with the medals and Sonny's name in the raised letters. That's a unique way to honor someone.
Maybe I like simple stuff too much. We could have honored the MS National Guard - Jackie style - and everyone wears different unit patches on their shoulder, and added the Sonny items on a regular helmet and I think been much better off.

"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

Someone else said that the banner is on the plane also.
I personally think they are great. The symbolism is awesome. If you are honoring one person from our university, it would certainly be Sonny Montgomery.
Everything on twitter I have seen is most people like them and the Players LOVE them.

These are so lit. My only nitpicky complaint is that I wish the numbers & shoulder stripes were maroon. But they're still badass. And there's a great story behind the uni.
It's the roller coaster of hope that this program keeps us on that makes it hell being a State fan. - CadaverDawg, 10/15/22

Players are going nuts about them on Twitter. They love them.

I know before that a walk on that had served or was in the ROTC was the model. Not sure if this is true but I know it has been in the past.
