It definitely was a factor in his decision to move on, no question about it. Finishing in the cellar of the SEC two out of three years would have not been good for his long term prospects. I think he knew what this team was going to be after the first 4 Tommy John injuries. Obviously, not his fault though and most reasonable fans would have been happy to give him another year ("most" being the key word).

I really would like to see state baseball get to a more consistent level. I think we have all the resources to and I think Cann can do the job.

18 total K's. Peterson had 17 on his own.

This team has more issues than TJ victims. We really only have 1 legitimate middle of the order bat in rooker. We have some guys that can hit, but no real strike fear in opposing teams like we should have

From what I've seen so far we have to find a way to recognize strikes at the plate. Players are going to have bad AB's and go through slumps - that's life. But as a team we have swung at a tremendous amount of balls in the dirt. We need to work on better strike zone recognition before SEC play or we're going to have more games like this.

Oh I totally agree. But, good pitching can overcome a lack of bats in many cases (look at our 2012 team for instance). We had the opportunity to have a big time staff but lost probably our 4 best arms over the summer, then probably 2 of the top 3 or 4 we had left early this season. Really just never had a chance from about August of 2016 onwards.

We've been scoring 8 runs a game. Maybe this pitcher just had really good stuff.

Definitely devastating to our pitching staff. We can't wait on them to heal either so we'll most likely have to bring in new faces to replace them. Those new guys will need time to adjust, so I don't think this is a 1 year fix for our staff unless practically everyone of our currents pan out

2-0 is called acripple pitch. If you are going to get a pitch to hit it is usually on 2-0. But it doesn't mean you swing at ball 3

Maybe. Fresno and uc Irvine roughed him up though... his era was 8.10 entering tonight

Good lord people. I didn't even read but page 5 and you people are freaking nuts. Yes, I'm sure Cohen knew this would be a down year. Im also sure he was recruiting very well. I'm also sure he didn't count on 4 tj's which turned into 6. I'm also sure canny is going to be fine. I'm positive. So for the love of all the stupid will James bullshit just stop. Stop. We will be back. And quick. I told you this year was going to be a struggle. Deal with it.

Normally I'd agree, but Peterson made Alexander look like me facing Clayton Keyshaw tonight. Alexander wasn't making contact if they gave him 8 strikes

But all other times He was behind in the count. This was the only at bat he had the pitcher in the hole. Swinging on 2-0 is a good way to help a batter that has been struggling making contact.

He didn't touch the ball with a 2-0 count either

I just think we should be a more consistent program. Bianco has missed a regional 2 times in 16 years. We're gonna miss one 2 of the last 3

I don't think anyone is really jumping off a cliff, blaming Cohen, or blaming Cannizaro. This team just isn't very good and it isn't really anyone's fault (except for maybe partially Wes Johnson's....). But mostly it appears to be bad luck. Calling a spade a spade and saying there were warning signs of a down year coming as early as last August does not equate to bitching. I think it serves as a healthy reality check to the "regional every year....no excuses" crowd that sometimes shit happens and it doesn't mean our coaches or players suck at what they do.

Apparently ashcraft is the Sunday guy since cyr pitched tonight. I like this move. I don't think ashcraft is gonna be that good this year, but I like him getting experience. I do think he will be good next season assuming we can keep his elbow in tact
