Shit like this pisses me off. I was happy when Cohen was named AD because I thought he wouldn’t be ok with underachieving at MSU. Looks like I was way off on him.
I feel the same way, man.

Apparently, he has a close personal connection with someone inside the athletic department who gauged his interest which there was alot more than they could have anticipated.
So... defensive, went somewhere in LA, currently coaching in the carolinas... I looked at the HCs of the carolina FCS schools and found nothing, als othe DCs of Duke, wake, NC, NC State, SC, and Clemson, and found nothing. But the other guy said "Not a coordinator from a normal program".
I looked further, think I may have found him. does he have a tie to Grambling State by chance?

Don?t get caught up in whether a coach is offensive minded or defensive minded. You should be looking to identify the best head coaching candidate.

And most of them are offensive minded/former OC's. Obviously I want the best guy...and if Saban or Smart are available come on down. I could live with Grantham with the right OC hire. But no thanks to a rando DC from the NFL. No thanks

We have a horrible coach that doesn't want to be here, has no incentive to recruit hard, or develop our young players, or make staff changes

Have you heard anything about Joe looking for other jobs or is he just gonna stay put?

I don't understand the admin's angle on keeping Joe.
Why are they attaching themselves so hard to him?

Yeah defensive minded coaches seem to flop at higher rates than offensive guys do. My guess is offensive identity is harder to instill and carry on over time if you have to rely on an OC to do it, but defensive identity can be picked up from a DC easily. See Grantham.

Exactly! It is mind boggling.
EVERYONE knows how this is going to end. Why not go ahead and be done with it. The original hire was not a mistake (seemingly). The fact that he is still here is the mistake. I cannot believe John is ok losing his job because of this man.

They do not have a choice at this point. IB apparently told him that it while on the outside it seemed like a fluid situation he was going to try to keep him around. After his press conference Moorhead drew a line in the sand between the admin and the "minority" of the fans that JoMo said to basically go to hell. Turns out the minority was either alot larger than he expected AND/OR alot more powerful.

So this has completely blown up in Cohen's face?

Why would Cohen try to "keep him around"? What is he possibly seeing that implies we're as well coached as other SEC teams, and why would he be willing to support Joe against the vast majority of fans boosters, and presumably his own president? He's really willing to fight the whole world to keep a bad coach around 1 more year?
And what does " they do not have a choice at this point" mean, surely the boosters are powerful enough to force Cohens hand right
