Sunday Morning QB- Cripple Fight Edition
1. Having a game on Saturday sucks as a HS coach. Especially when you lose said game. A rivalry game that is considered more important than making the playoffs. A pregame meal of baked chicken and green beans followed by an after game Whataburger. Saturday was not a culinary delight in any way at all.
2. Well, we knew Shapen was going to get hurt. So its not surprising. Was hoping it wouldnt be in his first SEC game- but here we are. It would be a big mistake to have him back next year to get hurt again. In this new era of unrestricted free agency and NIL- dont make the same mistake twice. Learn from your mistakes. We rolled the dice and crapped out.
3. Remember me telling you word was that Parson is not the future? Well now you see who we went with yesterday. I expect both will play the rest of the season but the Freshman is likely to get most of the snaps. An ugly offense for most of 2024 just got uglier.
4. Plastic Man getting hurt really sux because the offense finally showed some signs of life. 480 yards. 240 on the nose each way. Daniels is an actual RB and looked solid for the 2nd week in a row- 5.5 per carry. I'll say this again for the 2nd week in a row- the OL is not good BUT having a guy at RB with a little vision shows its not terrible. Being able to run the ball some allows the offense to stay on the field longer by keeping us out of 2nd/3rd and longs constantly.
5. Fla is not a good offense and we made them look like a good offense. 6.6 per rush. Couldnt hardly force an incompletion. No pressure on the QB. Just bad all the way around. Recruit, recruit, recruit.
That's all I got. Not much to say right now. Lebby is going to get 3 years for sure. Let's hope he and his staff's portal evals- especially defensively- are better in Nov and Dec than they were in 2023. Not to mention some quality player development with the free agents we end up keeping on the team.
