Struggling indeed. If he goes to FSU and they have a year next year anything like this year then he will likely be going through a coaching change following his true freshman season. I just don't see FSU putting up with a coach that hands them consecutive losing seasons.Quote:

I completely understand a kid wanting to go to Bama, UGA, or a particular school, but I don't get the overarching statement of "I want to go out of state".
It's never made sense to me unless they are ashamed of where they are from and look at a different state as being of higher status regardless of reality.
I've seen tons of kids that go off and then can't wait to get back. In fact, more than end up staying. AL wouldn't be bad for him. FL, I'd be concerned about his happiness there. Tell him even Bobby Dickerson comes home and he's been in MLB forever it seems. Favre stayed. Billy Hamilton did. Paps came back. Big money goes further here.

Your viewpoint is based strictly from football as if there aren't other factors than sports. Football is merely the board they have the opportunity to launch themselves from. What if their home life is toxic and this is their chance to escape it all and really distance themselves? It's not that the state of MS is a "prison" (really taking it to the extreme there aren't you). You're missing the point. The reason some want to get out of state is to distance themselves from home, parents, friends, make new friends, see a different part of the country and have better access to other areas, live life some where besides a one light town, the list goes on and on.
Who cares if they come back to MS later in life? It's home. What does that prove? It's not hard to understand coming back or missing home and the easy going slower moving way of life in MS. Some prefer a little more hustle and bustle. Or think they do. That's for them to figure out though. They still get to go out and experience life differently than what they are used to and in a different location. Since when is expanding your horizons a bad thing?
I live out of state now and absolutely love it. I was born and lived in MS over 30 years. I can go back and visit whenever I want as often as I want. It's just that simple.
