Joe just tweeted the ring the bell tweet. Who is it?
Witherspoon or Jones? (committed)
Brevyn Jones...OL
Brevyn Jones it is
I'd say Hall is more like 60%.

So, based on his offers and lack of size I'm assuming he's more of a "hope he grows into his body" than a stud. I'm not opposed to that, many great OL are late bloomers. Anyone in the know have more info that his 247 page gives? How athletic is he? Is he smart? new to the position? have a good frame he can put muscle on? Because his 247 makes him look like he's a middling Sun belt talent
I think he's got an offer from Cornell, so yea, dude's prolly damned smart. I'm thinking the coaches are thinking he can contribute in 2 years or so after he bulks up. I do like smart OL's though. Maybe he can become a Kent Hull type center for us one day.
Yeah you know if he can get in Cornell he's pretty dang intelligent. He plays at a 7A school from Birmingham so the level of competition is pretty high. I'm sure he's a project but so was Elgton, Day, Beckwith, Clausell and some others in recent memory. Time will tell.
I am excited to get this guy. He looks to be pretty smart, except he has an offer to go to Cornell free ride and didn't accept it. This could pay off in the long run when his weight catches up to his height. Hopefully we can get him in and add about 30 lbs of muscle to the frame.
He's kinda like a Marcus Johnson Duke recruit
He actually has an academic scholly offer to Cornell? I thought the Ivy League didn't offer athletic schollies, amirite?
If he's really smart that's a definite edge. Like you say Bully, give him 2-3 years in the weight room and he'll be 6-4 300 lb and smart enough to play C and help with protections/communication. I have no idea what his foot speed is or whether he has that "meanness" factor OL need, but him being smart definitely adds to his potential upside after he develops. Recruiting sites tends to overvalue the "can play immediately" aspect of OL. Even if a guy is in shape he won't play for 1-2 years, and in that time a smaller guy can fill out. yet the composite will favor the big guy by .04 or so based on nothing else.
I wonder if we are looking to make him a center. He just doesn't appear to have the length to stay at tackle. He's about the same size as Elgton was coming out of high school.
He looks long on film. Looks like a tackle to me.
I wonder if he's really taller than 6'4". On his HUDL account, he list himself as 6'5"
Check out his video vs Pinson Valley. He looks like tackle here IMO

This signing to me is exactly what I think we are going to see as far as change in recruiting strategy. Mullen missed on guys, but then our backup plans didn't always make sense. They were reaches or just in state guys that just didn't fit.
This kid fits what we think Moorhead is. The more cerebral type that goes after high IQ guys. If this kid has an offer from Cornell and he's going to Huffman, then he's a smart kid. I think what Shotgun said was right. Has the ability to have a higher floor because he may be able to pick up the offense concept more easily. So it might be a miss, but it may be a miss that we can use to our advantage if he's the right player.
Could be but most of the time these profiles actually list them taller than they actually are. That being said his profile may not have been updated for a year or so and he may actually be taller. He's apparently a very smart young man, who plays 7A football in alabama, hope he's a sleeper and turns out like some of our others. We seem to have more success with the lower rated OL's than the higher rated ones.
In the last 5 cycles we have recruited 2 low rated guys that turned out great (Calhoun .796, Jenkins .81). The lowest rated guy was a bust (Cochran .76). Our highest rated is now in the NFL (Rankin .91). Other highly rated guys have done well for us (D. Williams .88, S. Reese .88). I expect Dolla Bill (.90) will do well also.
Robinson was a 4 star and Champion was a 3 star....nobody is suggesting that the rating system is a perfect indicator of production but it would be great to land a 4 star recruit like Cross in every class
I expect 6 OL in this class when everything finishes.
