You have to move on from Lemo. It just is not fair to the guys on this team there is obviously so much talent on this roster we need to see what we actually have and what we still need in prep of next year
this is bad, just bad. I watched the game last night with a veteran high school coach who knows our roster squarely. He critiqued each defensive and pitching move we made and detailed why it was a bad decision. He was spot on correct as to what would happen. We wasted one of our best guys and put guys who aren't ready for the moment on the mound and lost the game in 5 AB's. Maybe we need to hire us a good high school coach since some are better in game thinkers than what we have.
Just bring in Hungate when we walked the first Man.Too much pressure for the young guys.
I'm actually impressed that we still have a 17 page thread on an MSU baseball game at this point. I really cant even watch and comment on them any more but I did check the stats in the 5th when we were still actually up 6-5 and already knew what was coming. This team just doesn't know how to bear down and compete. Still not sure how we actually managed the 2-1 win at OK. Guess it was a case of the blind squirrel finding a nut. We've essentially lost every other competitive game we've had this year. Without some miraculous turnaround we've got to get different leadership for this program. I mean this is the one men's sport that even in this age of NIL that we should still be very strong and we just aren't. And right now it's much more of a coaching issue than a talent issue. Most all of these losses are by 1, 2 or 3 runs. We seem to find a different way to lose a close game at every opportunity.
It's completely a coaching issue. Talent is never going to be an issue here. There's only been a couple of times in my life that talent has been an issue at Mississippi. 2008-2010 and 2015. That's it. And 2008-2010 was solely on Polk and his outdated way of recruiting. And even during those bad years we still were recruiting at an extremely high level. I mean we pulled Renfroe when we were BEYOND AWFUL. Also pulled Chris Stratton during that time frame as well as Adam Frazier. Like getting talent here will never be the issue.
We have talent and should be winning baseball games. Thats the bottom line
Only talent issue to me is we are missing another SEC quality starting pitcher or two. We really only have one. Most all the top SEC teams at least have two. We all knew we whiffed on this in the portal and it's biting us in the butt big time along with no proven closer. Dotson might actually work OK in that role but so far we really haven't been able to get to the 9th with a lead very often. We've had a couple of ties where Williams keeps giving up the gopher ball.
I get that we imploded pitching but where the hell was our offense outside of the long ball? I feel like we either hit home runs or nothing last night, which only works for UGA and Tenn for some reason.
This. We have to many mental lapses. Errors on routine plays, walking people when we have big leads, bad baserunning. We have lost 7 games by 1-2 runs and had the lead in every one of those games. It shows we can play with anyone, but when you're playing top level teams you cannot give them freebies and extra outs or you will get punished and that's what we're doing
I'm still so pi$$d about that game last night. We better not 17 it up for Pico tonight.
well, well, well
