I assume this is Blanton’s replacement?

Solid depth piece, with a bunch of potential. The naysayers will say that he didn't sniff the field, but fail to acknowledge that Texas has one of the best defenses in the country the last two years, and just because he couldn't see the field doesn't mean he isn't athletic as hell. His HS tape is extremely good.
He has 3 years to play 3, so it's not like he can't get better.
Solid pickup.
Maybe he pans out, maybe he doesn't but his odds are much better than who he's replacing. And that's what we have to do - upgrade the potential in defense and hope the staff can get some of them to produce. Again, we aren't going to be able to attract highly productive players this round. We need to find either guys that are blocked by NFL types and just want to get on the field or people that have produced at lower levels and want to try and step up. Some will bust, but hopefully we hit on a few.
Are we expecting anymore portal commitments tonight? Hayes Fawcett said that there are some notable commitments tonight
Is he currently injured?
? The 6-foot-3 and 235-pound outside linebacker spent two seasons at Texas, appearing in five games this fall for the Longhorns. He registered two combined tackles and two defensive stops in 2024. Gullette registered defensive snaps in three games this season, against Colorado State, UTSA, and UL-Monroe.
He also got snaps on special teams with the kickoff coverage unit in four games, including against the Oklahoma Sooners and Florida Gators in SEC play.
Gullette didn't play any games for the Longhorns during his true freshman campaign in 2023, due to the rehab process from a knee injury he suffered before his senior season in high school.
This will make some of you happy hopefully. Confirmed visitors for tomorrow:
Justice Finkley-Texas, EDGE
Will Whitson- Coastal Carolina, DL
Jaray Bledsoe- Texas, DL
Kegan Trost-Wake Forest, OT
Kofe Asare- UMASS, Edge
Possibility of a couple of more as well but nothing confirmed as of yet.
We're the point we got to take just about everybody at DL
What are the chances we get Sydir Mitchell in for a visit?
Look for us to take a swing at Wazzu transfer CB Stephen Hall. Originally from Memphis and played two seasons at NWCC before heading to the Pallouse
Not really transfer portal related but does anyone know if we are going to attempt to get Booth or Kelly another year of eligibility?
Every year it seems like we hear that we are about to get a coach that is still coaching and players that are still playing. Hopefully this is the year.
Hardy (rb) commits to Mizzou. I had hoped we would get a visit but his asking price was apparently pretty high.
Bates (OL) to SMU - wasn?t sure if we pushed for a commit or not
I'm expecting some good news the next couple days but I'll be honest, this version of recruiting is so wild you never really know. I was talking to someone last night about it all and they said just the expense involved with getting kids to come on a visit is wild. These street agents are even worse and a lot of kids are working with them.
I'm not worried about WR's. Mississippi is loaded with them and diamonds in the rough are everywhere. Truthfully, if we get/use the big bodies in the middle then our LB's and edges are the key. I like the fact we're addressing those key positions.
We've signed enough big bodies to plug the middle on defense. Get a Rb, some OL, and find some WR's. If/when we do this team can go bowling next year. Yes, the schedule will be tough but there will be drop-off from alot of the teams we play. ASU, Arkansas, Mizzou, Ole Miss, will be winnable games.
I'm not 100% there yet but I feel decently confident that Jaray Bledsoe joins the class within the next 48 hours. He and Gullette are very close and I think he knows he can come in and compete for a starting spot day 1 here.
Well we're already a better football team. I think that in and of itself will get us to 4 wins, Arizona St will be rebuilding and not near the football team they were this year when we still almost beat them. I personally think if you continue to add in the portal, there's 3 SEC games we can pick off next year.
Townsend to Ole Miss
He had 211 yds against EKU and UMASS. He had 194 the other 10 games combined. It wholly had to do with competition. He will get better, but he's still at best a WR2. You really would rather him be a WR3.
We're on some really good WRs. Just have to get them in for visits. A lot of WRs are seeing the numbers for Rivers and Singleton and thinking they are going to get that as well.
Townsend to Ole Miss is disappointing. My bigger concern now is the J. Smith visit to Auburn. That seems to be a guy Hutz really wants and he's going to a place that is really throwing money around this year.
