Bednar was lights out in his last start, but you are fooling yourself if you think that is his norm. So yes, you put him in the best position that you can to succeed. Along with not messing with his future, considering you get 1 more solid outing out of him regardless if he pitches tonight, Saturday or next week. By solid I am saying 100 percent, or on full body acclimated rest. Again it is professionally irresponsible of Lem to throw him outside of normal body rest when you do not have to. Win or go home situations are different, BUT we were not in that situation. Lem made assurances to the families of these players, to protect them. If he breaks that, it trickles down to the recruits.
