Right but still. Seems he wanted guaranteed playing time then quickly walked that back. But yeah maybe they just gave him 1.5M to be a backup

Well we could have done that. We chose not to. And honestly who could blame him. We are 2-10. You want me to start for you for half a season and get tore up with a bad offensive line? I'm gonna need some guarantees.
I think we should have ponied up. Because right now we've bet on ourselves as an 2-10 team and we are currently losing that bet.
We had a solid freshman qb here a couple weeks ago, and then we thought we had another solid qb coming in. Today, we have neither... our position in the sec is being shown to us once again.
Let's all laugh at LSU right now.
Whittemore to Utah.
MVB can hit the homerun, and lsu always has big play WRs. I can see him doing well there
The guy is not worth 700k. Absolutely not worth anything close to a million or over it. We’re looking 2-10 dead in the face again guaranteeing MVB to start. What did he do this year other than throw some good deep balls to make anyone think he was the guy? We’re talking about a team that lost every conference game by double digits. All of them. And he played in every conference game.
He will have to get on the field. He is not beating out Nuss, they have the number 1 QB committed for 2026, and you can bet your ass they will bring in a transfer next offseason too. Maybe this is just a move to sit behind Nuss, let people forget his 54% completion percentage, and try to get a starting spot at another school in 26.
No one is saying he is is finished product. What we are saying is you do not give that many guarantees to a guy who needs at least another year of coaching and watching to be ready at this level. There is also the fact that good QBs make strides throughout the year, see Dak in 13. Van Buren did not. He was the same QB all year. Really good deep ball, bad pocket presence, bad ball control skills, pretty good athlete, and no touch.
And if we get the fsu qb, post his comp % too. Let's not just unfairly critique MVB on his freshman performance.
Why is everyone that can see that this kid is 6ft something and 180lbs not the guy to run the veer and shoot a hater? He will never be able to take the beating required to run this offense. That?s why we were coaching him to hit the ground every time he carried the ball. He and his people tried to hold us over a barrel and demand way over his value. We know we have greater needs and at worse will be back in the same situation at QB that we started last season with more help on the offensive line and a more improved defense if we can finish decently.
Why are you so bent on a player that tried to stick it to us financially and with the team concept? His buddy making the same demand as well. I like him as a player as well as Arnold and LK right now but I will be damned if I defend his agents and mentality and act like we lost anything at the moment. He might have a nice career at LSU, the odds are he will be back in the portal next year if he is still the same person as today.
I have stated several times I was fine with moving on from him once I knew it's shapen's show next year. What I don't like (and will never like) is trashing a player when he played well considering the circumstances. Arnold was praised here while not being any better than MVB. The fsu guy will be praised when he wasn't any better than MVB.
Van Buren is that dude. However, in the SEC we're the only team outside of Auburn in a bad Qb situation. If not there would have been suitors.
Van Buren is a great talent and he really competed for us when he had the chance. I don?t think his play style really matches what we are wanting to do at the end of the day. I don?t think that everyone thinks these transfers are so much better than, but that they fit the play style we want to run better.
Creed to Utah
