It's so frustrating. Most of Our fanbase would rather go 1-11 than give $20 a month.

I will watch them go 1-11 or 0-12 from my seats before I give to players. I give to KLove, St Jude, Compassion and Hope International monthly over $100 each. I have the expendable income and the time, just don’t have an ounce of want to give to an organization that obviously wastes the money.
Call me what you will, but no thank you. Not going to stop my tailgate or family get together if we go 0-12. Might help with traffic though. Hail State.
My 24 year old son actually started a drinking game with his buddy as to every time someone approached about NIL or BI they take a shot. Pretty entertaining to watch.
I have to say this for the collective. They are well represented….. I wish them well but we do respectfully decline their invitations. There are probably about 20-30 different kids show up about it. It really is impressive the legwork on game day. Just honestly not for us.
The three playing the game are well tuned for kickoff. Haha
That's great that you donate to those causes. No one has ever said you should stop. But I just don't get the apprehension to give to athletes yet you say that if it was through the University you would have no problem giving. The money is going to the same place. Why the hangup if it goes through the Bulldog Initiative but no hang up if it went through the State Excellence Fund? I'm being serious. I'm trying to truly understand why every time NIL is brought up on this board you spring into action and have to defend your stance. Like we understand that you don't like it and you think it's the devil and you would rather us lose than win. Why? I have absolutely no clue. Winning is a lot more fun than losing to me at least. Winning also drives the economy of a college town. So I know you think winning isn't important, but it is. And not just for on the field.
Classy. We could have a real discussion about the food supply in the US largely being poison, leading to obesity. We could talk about things like seed oils, inability to afford healthy food unless you're making 6 figures, how the food pyramid is garbage, or any number of other factors. But you would rather say that people struggling to buy staples like beef and eggs are fat asses who need to eat less and pay athletic mercenaries money they already don't have when their dollar is buying less than ever. Enjoy that superiority complex. Ignorance really is bliss, in your case.
Be patient. Saban will fix it. He'll lobby Congress to subsidize CFB cause it's sooo important to the economy. Congress and Senate will pass a multi-billion dollar bill the next globalist president will sign, so we can then add several billion a year to our national debt and keep CFB afloat. And the taxpayers will pick up the tab. And Saban and all the CFB hierarchy (which ain't the players) can keep stuffing their pockets with lots and lot and lots of cash.
No worries.
I mean are you doubting that winning drives the economy of a college town? I mean do you think all those condos in Starkville or the new developments in the District were because Starkville is just such a damn happening place 365 days a year? No those were built on the backs of Dan Mullen and Dak Prescott and what they did here. They made it fun to come to games and spend the weekend in Starkville. A bunch of people, myself included, decided that we enjoyed it so much that we bought a place at one of those condo complexes. I didn't see those popping up from 2003-2009 though. And funny enough, we were pretty damn bad at football those years.
Truth be told last year I donated 4800 to BI I then called and found out through money tracing that BI did for me, that it all went to a kid that is no longer on the team. He transferred. So there at that point I SAID NEVER AGAIN.
For the record I think it is great that they actually trace it, should help with the “where did the money go” argument.
Frankly just a bad investment on my part. Learning never stops.
My BDC, Tickets, parking passes and townhome are already in my budget. Therefore they stay.
So what you're saying is that you'd like for your money to go towards a player that you know will stay. I've got no problem with that. Also I think it's very admirable that you did donate even though you're against it. I commend you for that. I would say this, there's a lot of people that donated to players no longer here, I am one of them as well(it was Zavion), but I'm not going to let that one bad investment deter me from donating again. I donated again for Hubbard, at least I assume I did since I clicked basketball and know he is about 40% of our NIL basketball budget, and that's been a great donation. I plan on making another one time donation on top of my monthly donation when the portal opens up in December. We're going to need a QB and every bit is going to help for Jackson Arnold.
Apples and bananas and fresh green beans are cheaper than blue bell and Oreos and Fritos. The idea that you can't eat healthy for just as cheap as eating unhealthy is a myth. We just need to educate people on how to do it. Should be a required class in school.
I can feed a family of 5 hamburger steak and green beans for the $20 it costs two adults to go to Wendy's.
Off soapbox
LOL ... you a funny guy.
Pretty clueless on the forces driving everything happening in the world and the reasons behind it all tho.
Including college tuition costs.
And small towns in MS in the last few decades.
As things continue to merge more rapidly towards the top, lessee how many options are left when there are only 2 or 3 options and they're all working in lockstep with each other and yet ... we're told there is "competition" and "options".
Need to be paying attention to understand all this and most people ain't ... they're overly concerned with bread and circuses.
Money doesn't make winning programs.
Look at A&M. Please stop pushing that NIL will solve our issues. Start holding the people making millions to run the programs accountable. I don't make a million dollars a year and I walk a much tighter rope than these yahoos.
To you ... maybe so.
The Roman elites understood the "mob" to a tee.
Same as today.
The elites understand how to get the "mob" to keep paying them even when their policies were causing Rome to crash and burn.
The "mob" will break themselves financially for "bread" and "circuses".
And the "mob" will keep buying the narratives about why it is so.
Sooner or later ... it all comes crashing down.
very true of the society today
Some of what you say is true. A lot of it isn?t. Weight loss and gain is largely calories in and calories out. Literally not possible to gain weight without excess. You know how those of us who like to eat clean avoid the preservatives and poison? Meal prep and cook our own food. Crazy thing is, I meal prep every week. I eat pork, beef, eggs, chicken and all the protein and nutrients I need while frying none of it, making 90% of it myself, and I don?t have the problem of obesity. Here?s the thing, obesity is classified as 25% body fat % and up for men. If a quarter of your mass is fat, yes you need to eat less. It?s literally that simple. Put down little Debby and cook a real meal, get out of the fast food line etc.
And as far as why everything is so hard to pay for, dude these people bitching about being poor still have iPhones, still pay for subscriptions to watch tv, still have Amazon prime, still have Apple Music/Spotify. For a lot of people, the difference between comfort and paycheck to paycheck is building a decent budget. The reason my grandparents were able to build wealth is partly because they were the last generation not buying all the things some of us do yearly. I?ve got friends who can?t afford houses but build 1500 dollar gaming PCs and bitch about how expensive things are. Forgive my lack of sympathy for a world with no self control. All you?ve been doing lately is complaining about NIL. It?s not a tax, dude. Nobody is making you pay it. There?s nothing wrong with the people who want to give, giving. Your point has been made. Give the dead horse a rest.
maybe you both are kinda saying the same thing, just different
I bought Noodle a beer last year. But he wanted a seltzer, so I pulled my offer.*
A question i have is in regards to how many wins are needed each year for our fans to be happy? We called it mediocrity to accept 8 wins per season, would we now be satisfied with this? How many wins would a 10 mil nil football budget get us and would we be satisfied? I honestly can't envision a scenario where we could legitimately expect to be in the running for a football NC in the current environment. I can see it as a legitimate possibility in baseball and basketball though.
To me if we spend $10M and every 3-4 years we make the playoffs (remember it?s just top 12 now) and the other years regularly are in and out of top 25 getting 8 wins and decent bowl games I?m ecstatic.
Remember to get to $10M us normal fans only need to donate sub $500 a year. I love this university so much that?s nothing for the amount of job being good at football brings me.
10 mil a year to be competitive in a college football game.
Jesus christ. Our fans have lost their minds. In what realm is that sustainable, and if it is sustainable... 10 mil a year could be better utilized elsewhere not to pay privileged players that hop in the portal first sign of adversity.
EDIT: You're talking 10 million from OUTSIDE the university. I'm fine if the league/university is footing the bill.
In case some of you guys missed it, in the first quarter of the UK/OM game the announcers were saying how the big college teams are hiring NFL guys with experience managing player rosters. It's now more like the NFL than college.
You said you were fine with 10-12 mil making the playoff once every 4 years. And being in the top 25 year in and year out.
Not much more to what you said. Still ridiculous. No-one should be okay with taking that much money out of the economy and into the pockets of teenagers to "possibly" win a couple of games.
Something we both can agree on is how entertaining Ole Miss forums are right now after they DID spend 12+ mil on a team.
My day is made.
Ha, you think those kids are putting that cash under their mattress? I would bet 60% of that money goes directly to local car dealerships, jewelers, restaurants, and the cotton district. A good part is also going back to mommas at home. I can promise you it is not getting taken out of the economy
This is the reason for my question. If we spend 10mil a year on football but only get 8/9 wins, will the fans be happy? It's a lot of money to not have a realistic shot at an NC. Perhaps we spend 7 mil on Football to get yearly bowl games then put the rest into baseball and basketball for a legit NC chance.
