Well I know one thing baseball is an extremely difficult game. We're winning and playing good baseball. Our pitching outside of fristoe was excellent and our defense which has been a thorn all year was dang good this weekend and we hit enough. I'm gonna take it and enjoy the ride.
Will add though that I was generally OK with the offense this weekend until today. As far as next weekend, I definitely still sort of consider us the underdog even though we are the higher seed but I hope we get the job done. At least I know now that if we go to Game3 there won't be any more experimenting with Fristoe. It will be Harding from the get go. We just don't have ANY other 3rd starters you can trust.
Anybody know game times for the super regional? We're heading down to near Starkville on Friday, coming back Saturday, so will probably miss most of the games.
I believe we're all wanting to take next step but one can enjoy winning baseball at the same time. And I'm not saying you're not enjoying maybe it's just your curmudgeonly way. You maybe like a farmer, there's either to much rain or not enough, but you love it nonetheless. When I was coaching I had the farmers view too, always trying to fix this or that, but sitting back and just enjoying watching a team play good baseball is a lot fun because of how difficult it is to do.
Yea, funny how things work. In 2019, I was convinced we could win it all. And while we did make Omaha, we only won one game. If the team this year actually makes Omaha I won't have any complaints because we would have squeezed an awful lot out of a team that has some fairly obvious weaknesses.
It's why I love the game so much. Anything can happen in post season baseball at any level. To many time teams had no business winning, won it all. If you get hot at the right time you can ride it to a championship. Heck Coastal Carolina did it with one starter, one relief pitcher, one power hitter and a bunch of scrappy players.
