The only thing to me that bothers Kiffin at ole miss , publicly, is the lack of students in the stands. Every year he calls them out.
Depends on at what point does he miss a big stadium, big games, TV attention and the crowds.

Again, you're still looking at this through the prism of it being prior to NIL, conference expansion, and the portal.
Schedule: There's no more divisions so Florida doesn't avoid the majority of the West and get to beat up on UK and Vandy every year.
Recruiting: Lane doesn't really recruit HS players. He prefers the portal. And he's going to get the same caliber HS player in Gainesville as he will in Oxford. Recruiting as all about money now. Not about fit or program prestige and history. Also, OM gets just as much Jordan stuff for players as Florida does so the Jordan brand stuff doesn't matter. Hell Dart wore Jordan cleats the past 2 years.
Admin: The buck starts and stops with Keith at OM and Boyce stays the hell out of the way. Lane goes to Keith, and Keith approves what Lane wants. At Florida, Stricklin has to ask Foley and Spurrier permission to use the bathroom much less approve anything a coach asks for
Boosters: OM is completely aligned and rowing in the same direction. Florida can't figure out which direction it's rowing. Hell they fired Dan Mullen after 3 straight NY6 bowls and fired McElwain after back to back SECCG appearances. They're just like Auburn.
Look maybe Lane is just hellbent on going to Florida so he can wear that Gator logo on his visor like Spurrier. But to think that Florida is a better job right now is thinking like their boosters. In the words of Dan Mullen when Geoff Collins left, "It's just a lateral move."
So, let's talk about NIL, conference expansion and the portal.
NIL- Ole Miss was ahead of everyone on this. They're not anymore. Florida can match and exceed what Ole Miss can do there.
Conference expansion- Ole Miss has had easy schedules since 2020. That is going to change soon. Look at their 2027 schedule. It's pretty brutal. Not sure what Florida has coming up but the reality is the odds of hitting on a D2 QB every year are not good and you can attract better players to Florida especially now that the NIL situation is settling down.
Portal- Yes, high school recruiting has been deemphasized but you not to the degree you are talking about. Even Ole Miss is starting some players that they recruited out of high school like Franklin, Perkins, and the DT from Houston. You still have to have that core group of players to build around. Like MSU has KT, Stonka, Jimothy Lewis, Lockhart, and etc. to build around. If Kiffin goes to Florida he is going to have Lagway and Wilson to build around. So, where can you consistently get more elite high school players to build that core around? Mississippi or Florida? And if you are a player in the portal and the money is the same because Florida absolutely can match Ole Miss where would you rather go? Oxford where it's all about Greek culture and Southern lifestyle or Florida where you are no more than a few hours from the beach at all times?
And I feel pretty confident that Florida has way more wealthy boosters as Ole Miss too.
Lane seemed to have come close to going to Auburn, or heavily considering that his daughter talked him into staying at ole miss. Florida would be a bigger consideration.
If there are boosters funding that buyout for Billy, then I would be interested to know what NIL commitment they make for the new HC.
If the LSU job opened up this year and I was advising Kiffin I would tell him to take it.
It took Spurrier and Urban to win championships at Florida but Les and O won one at LSU.
And for the record I think the LSU job opens up this year.
The Florida job comes with extreme stress. It's way too many chiefs there. Lane doesn't like to be controlled or extremely stressed. I'd be shocked if he accepts another job
Some of you guys who aren't living in modern times don't realize the ole miss job is currently better than the current Florida job.
You might want to tell CBS sports about these "modern times".

I actually have started to not mind the old time Ole Miss fans. It's these new age fans from the north that are just god awful. Like when it was just TX and GA kids that were going it wasn't a big deal because they had been doing it for 50 years. It was a joke and they were in on the joke. They didn't care. Now it's these kids from NJ, NY, PA, etc that have no clue about the rivalry or about SEC Football. They think OM has always been a king of college football and don't realize that they were a middling program 6 years ago.
I really don't pay OM that much attention anymore. I used to really care and get really fired up about just hating everything about them, but I really don't anymore. We have far bigger problems to solve on our end. I worry about those before I worry about OM. I also am not scared of OM. They are not some big bad program just because Kiffin is there. They are the same OM program they always have been. Really good offense, iffy defense, they'll win a couple they shouldn't, and lose a couple they shouldn't.
Correct. That's the thing. All this is cyclical. My personal guess......their downturn is next year. They put a lot of trust in Simmons being what they needed him to be and he got hurt combined with he wasn't playing well and Chambliss was playing amazing. Chambliss is out of eligibility, Simmons will transfer, and they will need a QB. Now, a lot of people are going to say, "Well every QB is going to be lining up to play for Lane." And while that may be true, Lane has also shown that he's not scared to play the hot hand, no matter how many stars are behind that guy's name and how much he is getting in NIL. That is going to cause a lot of pause to some of these high market value QB's that will enter the portal. They and their representatives are going to want assurances that they will be the starter no matter what.
