If we did that, we would go from giving up 44 PPG to about 60 PPG.

Will Muschamp for DC?
Muschamp left an on the field coaching role to become an analyst so he could spend more time with his family.
That?s fair and understandable, but you gotta at least kick the tires on it.
I would prefer J Collins over Durkin, but that?s just me. Any proven experienced DC would be a major upgrade.
how much does pete make now?
So I guess Bo was wrong. Weird that he put it out there.
Lebby ain?t firing him mid season and if he does at all it will be after the egg bowl.
Who knew that a rookie head coach who was a lazy hire by a rookie AD, who was hired by a lazy president that was in a bind when our coach passed, would screw it up? Nothing wrong with being a rookie, it?s more about being good at your job and not being lazy for me. And we are paying the price for Keenum not having an AD to lean on when Leach died
If Lebby had an experienced DC our season would be much different right now. I think Lebby was a good hire. I think Lebby made a bad hire in Hutzler.
To me, we are getting past Leach's death finally. Literally all we have to do is get a new DC and then continue to build on the offense which is solid as it is.
I think it's going to be an interesting November across the state of Mississippi because there are a lot of things that could happen that could determine the future of all three D1 programs in state.
Jeff Lebby was absolutely the right hire, IMO. He was arguably the best offensive coordinator in college football in 2023.
I?m not sure where this thought process that says we absolutely had to get an experienced head coach comes from.
The rumored other two finalists for the job were Barry Odom and Jon Sumrall. Both appear like they would have been solid hirings, but neither would have been better than Lebby this year. If anyone thinks that, then they don?t understand the real issues with the program right now.
Also, I repeat that it would not have mattered who Jeff hired as DC. The die was cast on this defense by Zach Arnett.
Every Coach in college football makes a bad hire from time to time. Some of you guys need to give it rest occasionally, it's a very bad season and worse than most would have thought, but the fact is we lack talent from Leach's recruiting and Arnett losing the locker and his bad recruiting and staff. Lebby has made mistakes, he is a rookie Coach, hopefully he will adjust. Firing Hutzler at this point is crazy, it ain't gonna happen first off and second off nothing would improve. Losing 20 starter from last year is insane, hell Nick Saban would struggle with this team. Lebby took over and now has almost been at Stark Vegas for a year, I expect more next year but I'm not sure we win 6 games yet. Give the man a chance ED!
Just out of curiosity, was Dan Mullen a "lazy" hire back in 2009?
This. Jeff Lebby inherited about as bad of a situation from a talent standpoint as you could inherit. I mean, Zach Arnett killed the program. Jeff Lebby is having to build it back up without even having a foundation poured yet. I'm not even sure the frame of the foundation is there.
I will say this though. He came in after Arnett and company (Brad Peterson, etc) were doing whatever in the hell they were doing, and he immediately did a better job of recruiting in a very short period of time than the previous staff did. Jeff got Stonka Burnside back into the fold. He went out and got Michael Van Buren. He got Kevin Coleman and Kelly A in the portal. He got Mario Craver.
.
You missed the 10 minutes of speculation between Bo and Jackson? It's plain as day the last ten minutes of the 7 o'clock hour. Bo states if he had to predict he'd predict Hutz was demoted and replaced by Barnes by late afternoon yesterday.
He was pretty confident in his prediction. It sounds like Bo was told it was happening but Lebby probably realized EVERYONE on the D side of the ball is gone by December so what's the point. It's like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic at this point in the season.
I don?t think Lebby will say it because he knows changing play callers isn?t going to change anything results wise. Jeff knows this is a talent issue, and he?s not going to throw his coaches or his players under the bus.
I don?t know if I buy that Peterson was ever really interested in coming to Starkville. He didn?t want to leave the Pacific Northwest. Part of that was because he has a child who has Autism. If you know anything about children with Autism, changing their routine can have drastic effects on them.
Our University and our Athletic Dept treats us like the federal government treats American taxpayers.
They take our money and don't give a sheet about what we want, they spend it on BS and laugh in our faces.
His kid fell and hit his head. It was a brain injury that lead to his issues.
From a really good source that I 100% trust, Peterson was very close to coming to State. In the end, it was the brain injury and the treatments for his son that changed his mind.
Regardless, none of that has anything to do with my post. Dan was NOT a lazy hire. Byrne kicked the tires and tried extremely hard before settling on Dan. Byrne was relentless.
