Was he available at any time we had an opening, or was he ineligible, as we only hire assistants with no HC experience?***

We had early discussions with his reps but it never progressed past that. We never spoke to him directly. I mean he was at JMU. If anyone tells you they saw this coming, they are lying. If he was this no doubt cannot miss guy then Bama would have hired him. I doubt anyone would have batted an eye if he would have left Indiana for Bama after 3 weeks.
I'm pretty sure if we had a poll in 2023 between Lebby and Cignetti MSU fans at the time would have chosen Lebby.
Hell, we had fans that wanted Jamey Chadwell.
Well apparently Indiana saw it coming. *****
You might have been but the sitting HC that a majority wanted was Chadwell. Kinne was a hot name too especially among the air raid fans. And my lord the Tom Herman threads and debates.
I remember Cig mentioned but he was way way way down the list of the fans on the message boards. There were no long back and forth as debating Cig. At all.
Cig is the exception not the rule. I am not even sure anywhere except Indiana works out as well as it did, it is easy to catch momentum going into the post season when you only have 2 games of merit in the regular season.
I dont think this is a crazy take either. No doubt would have been more successful than Lebby but you never know with a G5 guy. Theres way more examples of it not working.
Well, I know who will be a top candidate for the Bama job if it opens in the near future.
Interested to see how Stein is going to do at UK. They have a top 10 portal class. How much is he making?
There seem to be a lot of coaches and ex-coaches on the board. I dare say all of them could go better than 1-15 with only that last-minute win over Arkansas, aided by about 200 yards in penalties. I don't have the knowledge or connections of most of you, but I know another in over his head HC hire when I see it since the Davis years. This is another in the long line of our "powers to be," setting us up for failure again and again. JMO.
