Our bats never show up. Well, we got the 8 runs against Mizzou on Saturday. That's as close to an offensive explosion as you will see from us.

In a tie game in the top of the 9th 2 outs already you have to play for a run; you can't afford the luxury of playing for an insurance run. If you can't hold them to 0 in the B9 then that's on the pitcher. If the pitcher gives up a run in the B9, youd still go to the T10, where Jordan would hit that homer you speak of and give us another chance to close it out.
You play to score Mershon. WIth 2 outs, you have to have him on 2nd
You pitch Pico game 1, Dohm game 2, and you tell Stephen we need 3 innings on Monday and double barrel it with Auger. Our pitching is not as dire as one would think and everyone else, including UVA, is out of pitching. Their bullets are gone.
We are not in an advantageous position, but we are not dead in the water either.
We had men on base in the top of the inning. That’s where the game was lost. Good teams put their foot on the neck and finish them.
Dohm's not starting anymore this season. That much we know. Auger would need to start tomorrow night vs UVA if we get by St. John's. Beating St. John's with our bullpen is the best chance to win the regional. Most coaches don't have the balls to do that though.
We chose to keep Lemonis when that fat 17 doesn't recruit or develop. We'll throw Pico, Cheatham, Black tomorrow and might win if we're lucky. Then if we do, we'll get killed by a Scott Kilne umpiring crew like we have twice this year already whether we hit or not (we won't). Then Lemonis gets an extension and we win 25 next year and are back to a buyout we don't want to pay because the BBQ boys just want to get what they want.
We will be fine against St Johns and then find a way in the night game. Anything can happen in a single game with UVA. Premature to throw in the towel.
If we lose this regional it might be the end of Gautreau here. If not it should be.
Auger starting against St. John's
No, we aren't going to beat VA 2 in a row. We've only won one road series all year and haven't beat anyone 2 of 3 on the road the caliber of Virginia (who is definitely better than Vandy). That's why I thought it was ridiculous when some were saying we SHOULD win this regional. We HAD to have this game but couldn't get it.
Vs St Johns. Start Pico. When we pull him, put in lefty Loo and then if that goes south you pull out all stops and put Dohm in there to stop the bleeding. But if Loo can give you a couple vs St Johns, then thats a big coup.
Auger and Davis vs UVA in the night game can get a win. Bats have to show up on Monday though, no way around it
Virginia has too many sticks in their lineup, they can hit and I hope we beat St John but it’s gonna be difficult for us to out slug them.
I strongly dislike it.
YOu have ot win 2 games tomorrow. Winning the fist and loosing the 2nd is no better than losing the 1st.
Who are we more likely to mash tomorrow? St Johns pitching or UVA pitching? Obviously, if we are going to see an offensive explosion that allows us to get away with saving the good arms, it's vs St Johns. Auger should be saved vs the team we need to hold offensively
If I'm the coach I would rather have my bullpen game aginst St. John's than uva. If we pitch pico or auger against St. John's then we only have one legit starter to go aginst uva while needing 2 wins. Gotta play to win the regional and saving auger and pico against uva would give us the best chance. St. John's is thin in pitching and honestly if we can't beat them throwing a bullpen game we aren't gonna win the regional anyways. Start Scheulke or siary or whoever and go from there
Yeah winning the first game means nothing if you have no bullets left in the gun. If you have to win 3 games(and that's our task to win the regional) you're gonna have at least one bullpen game to do it. Who would you rather that be against? The number 12 team in the country or St. John's? No brainer to me but I don't make
Millions to coach either lol
