You honestly think a player is capable of seeing a pitch, determining what kind of pitch it is, then determining whether it's a strike, then determining whether it's a pitch they can get a hold of, then deciding to foul it off if not?

If you're facing a pitcher throwing 80+ and are thinking anything beyond 'see ball, hit ball' you're completely screwed.

There's no doubt. Alexander was making plays and throws from deep in the hole earlier this year. If Alexander can hit, he'll be a fine player
