I think that a kid taking a blue shirt with a school, cannot take a OV or be recruited by the school he is receiving the blue shirt from. He can visit the school on his own dime. I don't think other schools that offer or recruit matter. I could be wrong.

You can't do that in football. They still count against the number.

There's a rule that says if you're on the football team and hold a scholarship in any other sport, it also counts towards football. I think that might extend to any scholarships period, but I'm not sure.

Ironically, that rule was put in place largely due to Bear Bryant.

Agree with that and if we decided to sign and place Collins. CEH and Rhodes would be the only small chance of good surprises if we get them as they look likely to stay committed. Doesn't look like we will offer Houston or Sonago.

That was set up with the HSNetwork, same deal that did Akers. Bowie (12:00) will be right after Odom (11:45) on Wed.

He will have already signed and submitted his paperwork well before his ceremony. We had Simmons' paperwork before 8 last year and sat on it until his ceremony.

Yep, the pandering that is done for certain fanbases with the recruiting rankings really tarnishes the whole legitimacy of the ratings. At some point, maybe 45 to 60 days out from signing day I wish all of the recruiting sites would agree not to rerate anyone after that point without dramatic cause (like an arrest or something). From an ability standpoint you've already seen everything you need to see from someone by then to properly rate them.

Billy Gibson -- 3* safety who was thought to be headed to Oregon until today when he started getting CBs to Louisiana tech. Shows offers from Oregon, Miami, WV, NC state, us, Nebraska, and other small schools.

My opinion, but I'm telling you...he's the same guy that Eric Moulds was at that age. Wouldn't be surprised if he's eventually a guy we call a generational talent. I just don't know enough about work ethic and personality traits, etc to say that he ever becomes that guy.

The problem with that is we still missed . I'd rather we had just left him alone and concentrated on someone we could get. I listened to the experts and let them convince me on what I knew... OM wasn't losing DD no matter the cost

Of course not. This isn't about DD Bowie the player anymore to them. This is about winning the PR headline with a player they should have had locked down months ago. No matter how crappy their recruiting class is tomorrow or how good ours is and even with the NCAA hammer hanging over their program, if they can hold DD then they will claim it as a major victory over us and feel like they've saved face. Hopefully he doesn't allow himself to be their pawn in this.
