If we ever had a football coach who went 7-5, 8-4, and 8-4 in his first 3 seasons, I would not call for his firing if year 4 was more of a 4-8 type year. But I would want to make his seat a little warm and expect a return to form in year 5.

The New Mexico loss wasn't in the same universe as the Toledo loss. New Mexico was in the tournament each of the last 2 years, and the round of 32 last year. More importantly, it was only by 2 points. It wasn't a humiliating beatdown.

I think we're more likely an NIT team (6-6) this year than making it to the Tournament, although last year 14th in the SEC was enough to get there, so who knows at this point. We may gel a bit and sneak in.

I don't know - it's just too early to say. But 5 wins is only 1 upset away from the mark that Oklahoma and Texas needed to make the Tournament last year, so I wouldn't say it's hopeless just yet.

We suck on defense anyway, so might as well roll with the offensive upside.
