Tennessee will now have to go thru the season with an intern it seems. Has to hurt them a little.

I don't think we'll see a Schlossnagle to Earley type fall off from Tennessee but I do think they will take a step back. I kind of hate it tbh because I wanted to beat them with him there.

Where are they going to transfer? They'd be ineligible for this upcoming season.

Honestly for one year, it probably would yield pretty good results. If he has someone else's talent he can push the right buttons. Now after 1 year it would fall off a cliff.

Not if the coach leaves.

The exception currently allows players to enter the transfer portal during a 30-day window that opens the day after their coach leaves or is fired. The committee approved a new format, however, that is shortened to 15 days and begins five days after a new coach is hired or announced, seemingly in an effort to crack down on midseason portal activity.

Incorrect. Kendall Rodgers just refuted that about 10 minutes ago.

I can almost guarantee that want happen. Most likely an assistant will take it this year.

Not trying to argue but what I posted is off the NCAA website. if that is not true why is that posted? Curious!

Being able to enter the transfer portal and transfer is different than doing so and being immediately eligible. Will be interesting to see if any leave and are immediately eligible.

We're both not wrong. They can transfer. They just aren't immediately eligible. They have to sit out a year.

I have a feeling we end up with a player or two next year from Tennessee and Florida. It sucks for those players but we have been through this before at MSU.

I'm surprised that Tennessee promoted Anderson instead of Elander. That tells me that they aren't going to roll with Elander.

I feel you on wanting to beat them. I'm the same way. And we would have won our share for sure. Shaping up to be a wild baseball offseason with Tennessee and I think Florida will officially open up at some point and then I can't see Earley making it at A&M. We'll see how long Manieri survives at South Carolina.

I'm glad we got O'Connor when we did!

I don't know- I just think that Lemonis is going to end up somewhere like The Citadel where it's low pressure.

I don't think he can win anywhere in the SEC that doesn't have top of the line resources. Tennessee has more than they did but not sure he can succeed there.

He might do OK at Florida though where they have resources and not the most pressure in the league.

I smell a lawsuit from the players who transfer into Tennessee this past portal cycle. And I expect them to win especially since Vandy?s QB got his 7th year approved.

I hope he falls on his 17face at SF and their puke orange program burns to the ground.

They're too far in on it to go back to mediocrity. They'll swing big this offseason if they don't give it to Elander. I could see someone like Godwin getting a hard look. Depending on how he looks at UVA, I could see Chris Pollard getting a look too.

Wonder if Henry Ford comes to MSU?

If MSU has a Right Handed DH at 1B in the Fall Game, then Ford looks pretty safe to snag a spot.

Just Unenroll at UT on December 5 and Enroll at MSU. We'll give him credit recognition for his semester with Vitello

He can absolutely do that. Unfortunately he'd still have to sit out. He can transfer, but there's no immediate eligibility.

i'm interested in how vitello works out in san fran. i don't know details but they should be a lot better than they are. they went all in on analytics with kapler and had that one great year. i don't hate vitello but i do hate what he allowed from his players/team. the thing about that is that the MLB is trending in that showboat/disrespect direction already. not gonna pull for or against him but i am interested in how this turns out.

of course from vitello's viewpoint it really shoulda been an easy decision. AD, supposedly, playing games with NIL money...so try your hand in the bigs, knowing the second it doesn't work out you will have a top tier college job waiting as soon as you want back in.

I believe he will do well at SF. Players seem to like him, and he is a "Junior Billy Martin" with getting on an umpire's rear end! Plus, I am sure he enjoys his raise.

If what I heard is true- I'm not going to say mediocrity but they'll definitely take a step back. It sounds to me like Tennessee wasn't as committed to their baseball program as much as he wanted and there were some issues with how their NIL was being distributed where Women's basketball ended up getting more NIL than baseball. And I was very surprised that they didn't just immediately promote Elander but it sounds like White doesn't want anyone on Vitello's old staff to take the reigns. Because of that I don't know that Godwin takes it unless he just wants a SEC job or something.

I think they end up with a mid major head coach or a SEC assistant like a Skylar Meade, Josh Jordan at LSU, Will Coggin or someone like that.

It's going to be interesting to see how it plays out. MLB is completely different than college baseball. I don't think he will be able to act the way he did at Tennessee because if he does his players are going to be baseball magnets and some of the veteran players and leaders like Matt Chapman will tell him to knock it off.

I'm pretty sure Martin was bipolar and an alcoholic on top of that but his players liked him. Except for Reggie Jackson but that's understandable. I heard a story about Martin when he was the Rangers manager during 10 cent beer night in Cleveland that drunk Indians fans were trying to get into their dugout and Billy got a baseball bat and told his team- "Let's get em boys!"

he will definitely be "put in his place" antics wise when it comes to the umps. he shows up with a reputation and nobody has bigger egos than MLB umps. and i love a good kerfuffle between a manager and an umpire so i look forward to it. but yes he will dial it back, but from what i've observed he does appear to be a players manager so i'm sure his guys will like him to a point...and if at that point they're winning he'll continue to be liked.

I am sure he knows he has to make adjustments to MLB players. I am sure money was a factor as well as chasing a WS ring. Plus this NIL is or has gotten out of hand and he may be tired of it as well.
