Again MSU being MSU

Went to the Madison Central high school vs Clinton high school game last night. My granddaughter is a cheerleader for Clinton. One of my best friend?s grandson is the kicker for Madison Central. He is ranked no.1 kicker in the state. He also according to friend, his grandson is also ranked top ten kicker in the country. State coaches were talking to him last year. The now coaching staff has sent him one text that?s it, that?s all.

I know kickers generally don?t get a lot of recruiting. But damn you got one of the best kickers in the country in this state and all he?s gotten is one text. Come on man! He currently has offers from the Univ. Of Miami, Fl.State, Univ. of Texas and others.

This is just one example why I feel we have the worst athletic department in the country!

He was committed to us and decommitted. Also, if he all those “offers” then why is he committed to USM??? I mean is he like a legacy? South Beach, Orlando, and Austin all seem like far better places to spend 4 years than Hattiesburg

Maybe we have another licker lined up, hate to say this but kickers and punters are the easiest to find, usually not top priority but they are important. We need some beef up front on both sides of the line, always need speed as well.

Recruiting kickers is a bit different.

Not sure if we are talking Richardson or Beavers here. We're going to have to start putting them on scholarship because college football is essentially doing away with walk-ons but if we want one of them and we push for it I'm sure we can make it work.

This is one of the most frustrating things about MSU football. They'll overcompensate to fix a weakness and then ignore something else and it creates a weakness somewhere else.

I want to see MSU build teams that are more complete

Why not. Doesn't have to be much. The way things have gone this year, we could certainly use someone that can kick it from that far.

Pay him to come (to replace scholarship and some lunch money while here), list him as (preferred) walk on.

Have you forgotten Mullen kickers? At the end, it killed us. He finally got a good one to commit and when Mullen left, he got the kicker to decommit and sign with Florida. That kicker now kicks for the Cincinnati Bengals.
